Athlon 64 too expensive, Indian resellers say

REPORT SAID that resellers in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) are failing to sell many Athlon 64 microprocessors. According to Channel Times, that's because the schemes AMD is offering aren't attractive. It quotes one reseller as saying that while he's had a lot of interest in the Athlon 64, he hasn't sold on eyet because the price of the chips are too high.

AMD would need to drop prices of the processors to sell them in India, the reseller is quoted as saying. Another reseller claims margins are too high on the chip, but AMD India says that a scheme whereby people can bypass dealers and buy the chips direct is fair.
