You roll the dice. After 10 or 11 tries you *might* be able to successfully upgrade to the new version, maybe.

I tried repair/update half a dozen times. No luck. I'm really getting fed up with Avira, I really am.

I even uninstalled Avira and it still installs version 642. Either 672 is still not available for the free version or Avira is beyond incompetent.

Decent job, but darn, it can slow your computer to a halt on boot up. If you plan to use your computer first thing in the morning, try booting up from the night before, because Avira runs a lot of services and startup processes that can slow your machine down. Don't try running it on anything with less than 2 GBs of RAM. Its a good AV though, but I recommend you clean up the system first with ESET Live CD then you can install Avira after.

I'll agree with you Mr. Dee and also add the fact that this stupid thing doesn't like to upgrade to latest version without uninstalling older version first. Never used to have that problem, but I can't count how many people have gotten a hold of me saying their copy won't upgrade as the registration just sets there and does nothing. Thusly, me and many other people have quit using this quite some time ago now.

Recently switched to 360InternetSecurity and like it, but it takes forever to load on boot up also. :(
