Battlefield 3 to get crossbows with different ammo types

Battlefield 3's next expansion, Aftermath, will add crossbows with different ammo types to the game. The crossbows will have different bolt types for different situations. Explosive bolts will be able to put holes in walls, standard bolts can kill at short to medium range, scan bolts highlight enemies within a 10 metre area and balanced bolts can kill at long range.

On the addition, DICE said,

The four different bolts and the crossbow become a jack of all trades solution suitable for any class

Premium users can log into Battlelog to see a two minute video of the crossbow in use with all ammo types.

The Aftermath expansion will be available to Premium users on December 4 and released to everyone else on December 18.

Well that's stupid as hell. I'll tell you what, I get an assault rifle and you get a crossbow and unless you are rambo you have no chance to survive make your time.

Unless they go the Team Fortress 2 route with arrows and you light him up a few times with your rifle but he gets one shot off while you are still firing and your dead. Oh, and the hit detection boxes for the arrows are bigger.

I mean, if Battlefield wants to degenerate ever closer to call of duty then yeah, they could make things unrealistic and have bigger hitboxes abd have a crossbow arrow propelled by a rudimentary spring system rather do more damage than a steelcore 7.62x39mm hot one flying at 25000 feet per second.

Crossbow bolts do an insane amount of damage, they might be travelling slower but there's much more weight behind them. Also consider that all your opponents are wearing kevlar vests, designed to stop bullets not shafts of metal.

A trauma plate, surrounding all vital organs, would stop a crossbow.

Explosive bolts will be able to put holes in walls

Doubt those trauma plate's will protect from that.
Also an arrow has allot more kinetic energy then someone stabbing a knife. Different kind of impact to then a bullet or knife. Which is what the armor is designed for.
