Burger King Games Sell 2 Million in US

It seems like 'The King' has been doing very well for himself this past month. Developer Blitz Games is celebrating after selling 2 million Burger King games in just four weeks. Sales that are challenging top xbox titles such as Gears of War. The games retail at 3.99USD with the purchase of a meal at Burger King, so that some what explains how so many of these games have been sold.

Russ Klein, the president of global marketing said "We created the Burger King Xbox games as a unique form of all-family interactive entertainment, and we're thrilled with the response thus far," when speaking to Gamesindustry.biz. "Most videogames are considered a blockbuster when they reach the one million mark in sales, and this collection has achieved twice that."

The moral of the story? Anything will sell if you just price it low enough.

isnt this akin to that cereal company that bundled a game on the front of it's box a few years back bragging about game sales?

it comes with the frakin product they were already selling.

the article amounts to nothing but an ad.

Yeah, but "most videogames" don't sell for 3.99, so just keep patting yourselves on the back...

lmao, nice job burger king, i grabed my copys the night i got my xbox =D

i got the bumber cars and the mini bike racing..

PS:

YOU CAN PLAY THIS ON XBOX LIVE!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and each game comes with a 48 hour trial of xbox live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG.

I've got one of the two million sold...Sneak King. It's creepy, yet it's pretty neat. I want to get the others. They just came out with a King bobblehead collection for the Super Bowl. There's eight to collect, and they cost 99 cents each with a value meal...I have to get one to put on my dashboard.

Since the game was probably very short on the R&D end, their manufacturing cost was probably only however much the discs cost.

I've got Sneak King, and you've got to steathily sneak up on people (as the King), and surprise them with a tasty whopper or hash brown etc. It's fairly hilarious and the creepy King really adds to the atmosphere. Check out the trailer on Gamespot the voice over is priceless.

Yeah, but how much did they cost to make? :P

Total cost is probably close to what they've made. Looks like maybe $2m to develop them, plus a few million more for all those TV ads and store displays. They may not have broke even yet, but it's still a great success since these games were a form of advertising.

I'm sure McDonald's is working on their own game now. Ronald McDonald in Hell or something.
