C&C FPS (unofficially) confirmed

Earlier this week, Electronic Arts posted a job listing for its Los Angeles studio. The position in question is a sound designer to work on "a next-generation first person shooter game" from "a widely recognized leading sci-fi franchise." Though EA owns the rights to the sci-fi series Syndicate, Wing Commander, and System Shock, EALA is most famous for one sci-fi series in particular--Command & Conquer. The job listing lead to speculation of a remake or sequel to the 2002 shooter Command & Conquer: Renegade. While the possibility seemed likely, today GameSpot received direct confirmation from a source with knowledge of EALA's development resource allocation that work on a multiplatform C&C FPS is well under way.

Though the source, who spoke under condition of anonymity, wouldn't go into much detail, the project is indeed a "Renegade/Battlefield-style FPS." No information on a title, release date, or specific platforms was provided, but games from EALA's World War II FPS series Medal of Honor have been released for the PC, Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The most recent C&C game, Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars, was a best-seller on both the 360 and PC.

i did watch one video of "C&C", and it was on street level, with men fighting around all these buildings... maybe that short in game video may of triggered some thinking over at EA?

A yeah, because C&C is EA's only "widely recognized leading sci-fi franchise". What a pile of dumbtard "journalism".

I am currently playing renegade cobbled together a pc, didnt want to use the onboard graphics so plugged in a tnt2 pro 32mb monster raw power card :)

Runs it rather well tbh

wow, i couldn't be less excited.

C&C and halo are my 2 favourite games but the idea of combining the FPS element with the C&C universe is about as mouth watering as a bald parrot. when the novelty is the plot/universe/setting i don't expect much. Not exactly going to be pushing the boundaries of FPS's in any shape or form i would imagine

... make it set in Syndicate universe and I'll be happy

I second this comment and I'm a die hard C&C fan.

cant they work out the battlefield series is complete ****, bf: 1942 and vietnam are the only 2 decent games in it, the rest are "lets make some **** artwork followed by the same buggy engine followed by the same low quality sounds and the same easy-to-hack multplayer and stash a huge price tag on it", $50.. pff i bet about $46 of that was profit and the other $4 went to making the game look new when its the same load of ****.
i want ea to lose rights to syndicate and C&C, well, if im honest, i want ea to lose rights to everything `cos there`re scum and they release garbage, so hopefully people will stop buying there junk and eventually the company will be liquidated *stops dreaming*

hmm yeah.... except.... you know all those BF2 and BF2142 servers that are full of players... they say you are wrong.

But I guess we shoudl only make games "you" like huh ? and not the millions of players who are dead tired and don't want to see yet another WWII shooter for the next decade.

I don't think so, they mean it's like Battlefield gameplay, if they are going to do that, sure they will apply it on Battlefield 2142.

So, it's a reskin of a reskin of BF2?

I was horrified when I heard that they were going to make a new C&C: Renegade game. But reading some more, it sounds like it's going to be a Battlefield game set in the C&C world. Some people might like it, but it's certainly something that I won't be buying.

I liked the old C&C: Renegade. x) The multiplayer was fun.
