There was a video over at gametrailers comparing Crysis DX9 vs DX10 and I don't think they're even making a DX9 build anymore so the video with the DX9 part looked worse simply because it had less work done to it.

DX 10 is nothing to get excited over, certainly nothing to rush out and spend nearly $700 over(card and OS CND).

Just a quick benchmark for u guys run with same settings and same hardware under vista ultimate x32 and xp sp2 x32 using single MSI 8800GTX and HT Dual Core 3.2 1gb mem

Opps had 16x anistropic filtering running on both benchies will get back with default benchies but heres with 16x ani running anyways

Firstly XP DirectX 9c Nvidia drivers version 158.27

Average 50.0fps

Highest 86.0fps

Lowest 11.4fps

And Vista DirectX 10 Nvidia drivers version 158.45

Average 30.1fps

Highest 60.2fps

Lowest 13.8fps

I see NO I mean NO increase just a recode for some portions of the game to dx10 lighting thats about it

No. It doesn't.

What would give a better understanding is Vista w/ the patch, versus Vista w/o the patch.

We all know that the Vista drivers aren't up to the XP drivers yet.

I don't want to flamebait but ...

CONFIRMED!! VISTA STINKS IN GAMES.

The CoH developers pretty much said that DX10 brings no real new benefits (maybe a 2-3% speed increase) and that they decided to use up FPS in exchange for some graphical refinements that were possible under DX9 (a little more AA, a little more precise lighting).

Funny that MS was promising 600% (6 x) performance improvements with Vista & DX10. I guess they were lying.

How were they lying?

This game is still not coded for DX10. It's coded for DX9 with certain portions ported to DX10.

Wait until games are actually coded for DX10 using fully mature DX10 hardware.

Also MS said up to 600% performance improvements, which is different than saying 600%.

It's like cable internet when they say speeds up to such & such.

Usually I do get the advertised speed, but sometimes it is a little slower.
