You do realize there the X-fi driver bug which will delete the "all" user profile info on Vista during a driver install.
My next card will be a Asus Xonar. It has EAX work around built in to the drivers, no add-on software to make it work.

My Xfi Xtreme gamer has worked fine since day one with vista, same in xp, so maybe I'm a lucky one, i dont know, dont' care, but i haven't had any of these mentioned mode switches or anything

i've had an X-FI for a few years now and i've carried it through various vista installs from early betas to sp1 and i've never had a single problem with the driver install "deleting all user profiles". If this were such a big issue, i'm sure i'd have read something somewhere while i was lurking on neowin/creative's support forums.

Do you have to remove ALchemy for X-Fi 1.00.30 (which I have installed) before using this update as both this and the X-Fi specific ones are listed as under the support tab as downloads

The installer will upgrade it automatically. Just make sure to recopy the updated "dsound.dll" to any supported game's directory.

Thanks Tantawi, was curious as running ALchemy X-Fi's own updater found nothing so was a bit weary, have updated now

i really dont understand all the bashing about creative drivers, i use a x-fi xtremegamer in vista 64 with sp1 and it all works like a charm, no problems with anything, of course i dont have the crappy creative software installed, only drivers and audio console

The Vista driver problem is more for the Audigy. The X-Fi problems with Vista are the same problems people had with XP. (Crackling audio, spontaneous mode switches, etc.) What I'm wondering is what good this Alchemy package is for us Audigy owners if they haven't updated the drivers for the card yet.
