Crysis & Army of Two Delayed

Well it looks like we will all have to wait a bit longer to get our grubby little hands on Crysis and Army of Two:

During Electronic Arts' quarterly financial conference call, EA execs confirmed that two upcoming game will not be released in their fiscal 2007 time period that ends on March 31, 2007. Both Crysis (the PC first person shooter from developer Crytek) and Army of Two (the co-op themed console action game) have been moved to EA's fiscal 2008 year that begins on April 1, 2007. No other specific release dates were revealed.

But look on the bright side, now it gives us all time to get that next big upgrade, right? I know, that doesn't make me feel any better either. But hey, it gives Crytek more time to polish Crysis up for us, and make it even better! Same goes for the impressive looking Army of Two, which you would think by now would be announced for the PC. Maybe they are waiting for Vista, DX10? What do you think?

I swear, if this delay is because EA is forcing Crytek to develop PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Crysis, I will burn down EA's headquarters myself!

Crysis is long overdue.

No it's not. Give them some time to do something good instead of releasing a Battlefield 2142.

Thats all well ad good, and i am very upset to have to wait longer for crysis.... but still... where is duke nukem forever!?

This kind of sucks, was really hoping to play this soon. Oh well, I'm already waiting for UT2007, guess I can wait a bit longer for this as well.

yeah, we would all like to play it. but i would rather the team spend more time with the polish and being able to play a better game later.

unless of coarse its to develop the game for ps3 and xbox, in which case i will put strychnine in the guacamole.

brief timeline of events

Crysis Delayed
Crysis Released
24 hours later a 600mb patch released for users and 117mb patch released for servers.

lol almost, but they aren't 24 hours fast... more like a week or a few. that or multiple patches to patch the other patch

There have been many games that have gotten a zero-day release of a patch, or even before they hit stores, so it is not unusual.

If a game went gold without having all bugs fixes, the developers will immediately start fixing those. There is a 2 week timeframe from a game going gold until it hit stores, so it is possible to make a patch in that time, depending on how difficult it is to implement the fixes and how much testing is required.

Concerning the delay of Crysis, it is only for 2 months for now (if it goes gold in April, as last release date was February 2007) and I would rather play a less buggy and more optimized game (with hardware available to run it).
