Crysis demo in stasis till Oct. 26

The good news: Electronic Arts and Crytek are still releasing a demo of their forthcoming PC shooter Crysis. The bad news: The demo has been delayed to October 26, three weeks before the game goes on sale. "We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the [November 16] release date of Crysis at this stage," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli explained in a statement.

Yerli partially assuaged impatient gamers' ire by announcing the Crysis demo, which will be available via GameSpot Downloads, will ship with the CryEngine 2's Sandbox 2 game editor. This will give "the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal" when the highly anticipated game arrives on store shelves, said Yerli. For more information on Crysis, peruse GameSpot's extensive previous coverage.

am in the current multiplayer beta and the performance is not up to par yet, am glad to see they have pushed back the demo to get in the tweaks/fixes which should make everyone go 'wow' when they play it

dude, it's a SP demo. And not all demos reflect the final gameplay. I could care less about performance if I could even have a taste of what SP will be like prior to the full version being released.

I don't know what all the fuss is about, 2 weeks after release the game will be forgotten about in favour of the next big thing... it's all about hype, and you all fall for it every time.

It's release will be shoddy, racked with bugs and poor performance and it's not going to look half as good as you have been led to believe... the patch will fix SOME of the complaints but by the time it comes out you all have moved on.

BTW... anyone want to bet on the time it take for one of the scene to patch it for XP?

Crysis supports XP out of the box.

"Crysis will run only on Windows XP or Windows Vista. There will be a dedicated server package for Linux, however."

I'm in the Beta, this game is a contender for GOTY, that's for sure.
Don't be such a narrow minded prune, the game is ****ing awesome, well optimized and looks so god damn good.

Yeah, it'll be "awesome" for about 5 minutes then it'll go on to a shelf while you play whatever else is new.

It's not the game you all crave... it's the "NEW".....as for it not being a turd in a bag... we'll see! (and then I can say "told you so".)

...do you even know anything about the game or are you just bashing it because you've nothing better to do?
Not all of the hyped up games these days are terrible, you're effectively saying that only the unknown games stand a chance at being good.

How can they release it to paying filenet ppl weeks ago, then pull the free demo based on... technical tweaking??? What a load of crap!
Everyone who is testing it in the forumz have hinted (shhh NDA) that its grouse, so why pull the free demo? Seems they want filenet to sell a few more demo's before releasing the final :P
It had better be good, or im gunna run riot in this here internetz!

@JKing > the file on FP is the Multiplayer Beta release 2 not a "demo" bud

without breaching any NDA :P has anyone else tried it on an older machine? (say around a P4 3.4 dual core, 2gb ddr400 and a 7800Gt 512mbr? I couldnt get it to run at anything looking anywhere near as nice as say Delta Force (I aint kidding ya either!!)

Everything even set at low and runnning 1024x768 with x0 AA and it still runs like a dog. I know my rigs getting on a bit but even running it at the very lowest settings it ran like a dog. (and looked like that dogs dinner to boot!!)

Ill be jiggered if im splashing out £1500+ just to play 1 game (yes even for Crysis!)

I didnt look too deeply into it as I was pushed for time last night after the download completed.
