Despite the fact there are currently no cards that support DX10, Crytek managed to pull off a demo at PDC 2005 using software layering to show what to expect when the DX update & cards are out. They used the Farcry environment to show:
- Dynamic Day/Night Cycle
- Fully interactive environments
- Sunrays + Diffuse transmissions
- Real-time soft shadows & Soft particles
- Interactive/destructive environments
- Volumetric clouds
- and last but not least, Advanced shader technology!
