Fidelity Investments app for Windows Phone 8 lands

An official, and incidentally free, Fidelity Investments app for Windows Phone 8 has been released for download. The app represents the first time the American multinational financial services company have ventured into the Windows Phone app marketplace.

The app itself makes excellent and productive use of Live Tiles, displaying your brokerage account info and watch lists. Inside the interface, you can trade stocks, EFTs, mutual funds and options, whether you're a Fidelity Investments customer or not. As an all-purpose finances app, it's also great, offering the latest market news, real-time stock quotations and valuations of any given public companies. You can't check how Fidelity themselves are doing, of course, as the company has remained private since their formation in 1946.

Live Tile integration in the app allows you to pin individual securities directly to your Windows Phone 8 device's Start screen in order to keep up to date with continuous quotes. The background colour of the tiles themselves change intelligently depending on the market swing - if your investment is on the rise, the tile will turn green. Not doing so well? The tile will turn a rosy red accordingly.

The Fidelity Investments app is available to download now in the Windows Phone store.
