Firefox 7.0 Beta 5

The Web is all about innovation, and Firefox sets the pace with dozens of new features to deliver a faster, more secure and customizable Web browsing experience for all.

User Experience. The enhancements to Firefox provide the best possible browsing experience on the Web. The new Firefox smart location bar, affectionately known as the "Awesome Bar," learns as people use it, adapting to user preferences and offering better fitting matches over time.

Performance. Firefox is built on top of the powerful new Gecko platform, resulting in a safer, easier to use and more personal product.

Security. Firefox raises the bar for security. The new malware and phishing protection helps protect from viruses, worms, trojans and spyware to keep people safe on the Web.

Customization. Everyone uses the Web differently, and Firefox lets users customize their browser with more than 5,000 add-ons.

Changelog for Firefox 7.0:

  • Drastically improved memory use
  • Added a new rendering backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems
  • Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Firefox Sync
  • Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis
  • Added support for the Web Timing specification
  • Added an opt-in system for users to send performance data back to Mozilla to improve future versions of Firefox. This can be enabled by installing an add-on
  • Fixed several stability issues

not to be picky but how does "resulting in a safer, easier to use and more personal product." relate to the performance category?

but 7 to 9 is not as big of a boost as 6 to 7 simply because 7 is the first big boost to Firefox in a while solely because of the RAM reduction.

besides i would typically stay away from the 'nightly' versions which is why i am on Firefox 8 (Aurora channel) which has more testing. so your sort of on the cutting edge but with more stability.

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING???
Firefox 9 has Type Inference which makes it easily 30~50% faster and takes again lesser ram. It IS a big boost
