First Archos Windows Phone, the 40 Cesium, goes on sale for just €89

Two months ago, French manufacturer Archos unveiled its first Windows Phone handset, the 40 Cesium, along with its new 80 Cesium Windows 8.1 tablet. Archos is one of over fifty brands that have joined Windows this year, and like most of the new additions, it is focusing on the entry level of the market with its first Windows Phone handset.

The 40 Cesium has now gone on sale in Germany, where it is available via retailer MediaMarkt. The device costs just €89 EUR (£70 GBP / $113 USD) off-contract, and includes:

  • 4-inch WVGA (800x480px) LCD
  • Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB onboard storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB)
  • 5MP rear autofocus camera with flash and VGA video
  • 0.3MP front-facing camera
  • 1950mAh battery
  • 126 x 64 x 10.5mm, 126g

The device is available in black, blue and yellow variants, and also includes dual-SIM support. The price is slightly higher than expected; at its announcement in August, Archos said that the 40 Cesium would cost around €79 EUR in Europe, £79 in the UK and $99 in the US.
