For a limited time, you can purchase the OnePlus X without an invite

The glaring problem with OnePlus' handsets has been the inability to purchase one without an invitation. While this might have worked for its debut release, the novelty has certainly worn off for its release of the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. Although the company corrected the fault with the OnePlus 2 earlier this month, it still left its invite system intact for the newer OnePlus X. Luckily, the OnePlus team has announced that you will be able to purchase the handset without invite, for a limited time

Starting today and every Tuesday going forward, the OnePlus X will be available to purchase without an invite for 24 hours. For those that are looking for a modest handset with an excellent build, the OnePlus X might hit the spot.

The OnePlus X offers:

  • 5-inch AMOLED with Full HD (1920x1080px) display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • Quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 16GB onboard storage (plus microSD card support up to 128GB)
  • 13MP rear camera with 1080p video recording and slow-motion 720p video capture at 120fps
  • 8MP front-facing camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Dual nanoSIM
  • 2525mAh battery
  • Oxygen OS (based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop)
  • 140 x 69 x 6.9mm; 138g (Onyx), 160g (Ceramic)

As you can see from the specifications above, the OnePlus X packs a slightly more conservative set of internals compared to its other handset, the OnePlus 2. That means a slightly older CPU and a less impressive camera, but the big ‘plus’ here is that the device costs a reasonable £199.00 without a contract.

Be sure to check out our recent review of the OnePlus X and if it sounds like this handset ticks all the right boxes for you, hurry over to OnePlus' site as the open sale will only be valid for 24 hours.
