Free Download Manager 3.8.1170 RC 3

Free Download Manager is a powerful, easy-to-use and absolutely free download accelerator and manager. Moreover, FDM is 100% safe, open-source software distributed under GPL license. FDM accelerates downloads by splitting files into sections and then downloading them simultaneously. As a result download speed increases up to 600%, or even more! FDM can also resume broken downloads so you needn`t start downloading from the beginning after casual interruption. FDM lets you download files and whole web sites from any remote server via HTTP, HTTPS and FTP. You can also download files using BitTorrent protocol.

Download video from video sites, such as Youtube, Google Video, etc. The video can then be saved in native .flv format or converted to one of more popular video formats. In addition, Free Download Manager allows you to: adjust traffic usage; to organize and schedule downloads; download video from video sites; download whole web sites with HTML Spider; operate the program remotely, via the internet, and more!

I'm going to give this a try. It's been a while since I used any download manager. Last one I think it was FlashGet. I'm kind of surprised that we still use this, I though browsers itself had some sort of advance download management.

Just downloaded this program the other day. A pretty good alternative to IDM, I'd say, but then again, I haven't used all of IDM's features. I just didn't like IDM's yearly subscription model as it locked me out of the program until I paid again. I'd rather pay for a version with unlimited use and no support/upgrade beyond one year. FDM has some basic stuff I wanted like downloading 1 file at a time and setting speeds. Pretty good and best of all, free!
