Fresh Paint update for Windows Blue spotted in Microsoft Research video

Windows Blue has caught the attention of many Microsoft fanatics as it is the next installment to the Windows 8 platform. We have heard quite a few things about the upcoming update to Windows 8 but today we get an early look into the next gen platform.

MSFTKitchen has dug up a video that shows the new version of Fresh Paint that will likely be shipped around with or around the time Windows Blue lands. The video, posted above, is 8 minutes long but the demo does not kick-off until around 5 minutes into the presentation.

While the app looks similar to the Fresh Paint version out now, there is a new inclusion of water colors that interact with the medium where they are painted and the ability to import images and transform them into water color paintings.

In the video you can hear the team talk about Blue, surely, they are referring to Windows Blue but it is unclear if this demonstration is running on Windows Blue or vanilla Windows 8.

Seeing that this application looks polished, it raises our hopes that Blue will arrive in the near future with some saying it could arrive this summer.

I like Fresh Paint, but wonder if they could make a true Metro-style UI for the app that would work just as great. I don't have a problem with the way it is now, but I thought Metro was supposed to be a move away from skeuomorphism.

This is definitely the best painting app out there I do a lot of digital art and do some occasional painting as a hobby and this is so easy and wonderful to use. Very professional and I can't believe it's free! It's amazing.

Fresh Paint is already a smooth application... The Update makes it even better.... All ruined by 'Technical Difficulties'... Make sure the demos work before you post it on the web... everyone knows that, whens you screws up on the internets, its held against you for a minimum of 30yrs or so.... kinda /s.... and kinda serious...

Seriously couldn't they have edited that down before posting?

Ugh, yet another demo where they stand around going "what's broken?". Come on..geesh.

Right, because a leaked internal demo of a not released work in progress intended to be shown only to other employees who are interested in seeing a future product shows just how horrible Microsoft has become.

Of course, when it is a product that is being released, showed to the public as a way to sell your product to the teeming masses yearning to hand over their dollars, and you completely f-up your demo, then it is just fine:
