Console budget libraries are mysterious things—some companies trumpet their existences at every opportunity, while other treat them as some kind of dirty little secret to sweep under the rug. Microsoft, fortunately, is proud of their budget heritage: the Xbox $19.99 Platinum Hits library is hitting stores across the nation today, and MS was nice enough to send us a list of all 16 games in the initial lineup.

The criteria for Platinum Hit status are a little bit more lenient than those for the PlayStation 2's Greatest Hits library. All you have to do is be on the shelf for nine months and "be a top seller and have positive consumer and editorial feedback," according to Microsoft's release. In other words, there's no announced minimum sales target games have to reach before they qualify. Nice of 'em.
• Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding
• Blood Wake
• Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
• James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire
• Max Payne
• Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
• Project Gotham Racing
• RalliSport Challenge
• Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams
• Simpsons Road Rage
• Spy Hunter
• SSX Tricky
• Star Wars Starfighter: Special Edition
• Star Wars: Obi-Wan
• Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
• Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions
All of these titles should be available in stores tomorrow (in fetching new silver boxes, no less) for $19.99 plus tax. Microsoft promises that new titles will be added on an ongoing basis, so stick around for further updates.

[neoquote=#4.0 by Bant]because halo is their only income [/neoquote] He's actually right. Look @ Final Fantasy X for the PS2 or Grand Theft Auto III. They have sold WAAAAAAAY over 500,000 copies and that are still in the $40-50 USD range. M$ is probably trying to make as much as they can off Halo since they are losing co much on each Xbox system that is sold.

[/neoquote] If alot of the good games aren't on that list, then that means M$ is trying to make up the cash they are losing with each system... ...and to the other half of your post...SMART ASS!!!

Nice!!! Love to hear that because I'm not willing to give out a lot of money for games. Is this the same in Europe? How many € will they cost, anyone know?
