Thanks Mav Phoenix for posting this on our forum.

Nintendo of Europe has revealed that the PAL version of Metroid Prime will feature notable enhancements over the already released US version of the GameCube killer app. Unfortunately for us, thanks to these enhancements European GameCube owners will receive a more refined and difficult version of Metroid Prime.
  • Defeated enemies don't drop as many power-ups as the US version; less ammo and energy
  • Stronger enemies.
  • Damage when walking into acid or lava is more severe.
  • Just like previous Metroid games, the doors will take multiple missiles to open.
  • The Hint system has been toned down to not give away anything till about 15 minutes later than it actually would have originally.
  • Gamers can skip cut-scenes after they've played through once
  • Includes speech: English speech for the intro and voice output when scanning objects and adding them to the log. Also, a voice notifies players when doors are locked and unlocked and there is an added voice for the ending of the game

  • A realistic damage system with different locations (head, chest...) and increased falling damage.
  • New "Western styled" gametypes for more fun (like Bank Robbery, Duel...) and a single player (playable in cooperative multiplayer) with a story and missions with different goals.

Is this a good thing or not? Being in the UK I have never played any version, so is it a positive or a negative thing in the view of those who played the original version?

MP was kinda easy in my opinion so I think you guys got some good enhancements there.

That's it nintendo, you're third in the console market, and you expect to gain any ground doing things like THIS to your fans?

[/neoquote] Hey us in America have been getting tweaked games from Japan for a while now, it's just how stuff turns out. During a localization process they have time to tweak or add things that they couldn't do before launch in the home territory

[/neoquote] I smell a PS2/Xbox fan here...Nintendo tweaks games as seen fit for the audience their released in, like Japanese game versions may be a little harder due to the serious gamers they got there, its just a fact of life. But this is a very good thing for Nintendo to do because it tempts the people in the UK who just imported the US Version to go out and buy a copy of the enhanced UK version.

sony and ms do the same thing anyway, just its usualy not as noticable, or they add features like extra levels

eh, there's nothing really new, just slightly tweaked. Plus, you guys had to wait for it for a long time.
