With the game just two months away from release in Japan, Square unveil new shots of Final Fantasy's Cube debut

The latest shots of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles show some of the enemies you can expect to face in the game.

Unlike other games in the legendary RPG series, Chronicles won't use turn-based combat but will instead feature realtime fighting, much like Square's Secret of Mana, with your characters slashing and hacking as they go.

The game will also utilise a new spell system along with a 'magic link' which will allow you to combine magic stones with magical spells. For instance, combining a Homing stone with Fire magic will result in a huge flame chasing after your alloted target. Nice.

A Japanese release date of 18 May has just been confirmed although we're not expecting to see the game in the UK until the end of the year at the very earliest.

GO GAMECUBE!!! That news on Gran Turismo 4 having car damage is also pretty sweet too![/neoquote] The article merely stated that car damage was being researched as a possability. There's still the stubborn automotive companies that don't want gamers to be able to crash up their cars. It's all up in the air for now. There might be some announcement at the upcoming E3 about it.

Uh...yea, I know that...I read the article. They have been discussing damage to the cars for quite some time. But like the article said, adding car damage will draw in even more people to play the game and will make more money for all the car companies (as well as Sony.)

looks dang good, but it's too 'mystic quest'-ish for me....remember FF: MQ? It sucked. I'm awaiting FFX-2 here in the US. now THAT should rock!

[neoquote=#7.0 by mcb]this sounds really good. i tend to prefer realtime over turn based. i hope this makes it to pc[/neoquote] It's 99.99999999% unlikely that it will appear on the PC. The single player FF games that have been converted to PC (namely FF7 and FF have sucked quality wise...they were designed for TV screen and not high-res computer monitors.

Man, I wish it was turn based like the other Final Fantasies. I don't have a PS2 and can't really afford to get one just to play Final Fantasy, either.
