Combat-themed video games dominated the U.S. sales charts in early April as news of the real war in Iraq blanketed the airwaves, according to data released this week.
For the week ending April 5, NovaLogic's "Delta Force: Black Hawk Down" topped the list of best-selling PC games as compiled by research firm The NPD Group, the second week in a row it was the best-selling game.

"Black Hawk Down" is based on a battle fought by U.S. soldiers in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. The game has no affiliation with either the best-selling non-fiction book account of the raid, Mark Bowden's "Black Hawk Down," or the film of the same name that was based on the book.

The company has said it would donate a portion of its sales of the game to charities for families of injured or killed military personnel.

In four of the last five weeks, fully 50 percent of the top games list has been either stand-alone war games, or add-on packages for existing war games.

Holding the No. 2 spot for the second week running after three weeks at No. 1 was Electronic Arts Inc. with "Command & Conquer: Generals." EA also charted in the war games category with "Battlefield 1942" and an expansion pack for that game called "Road to Rome."

I would have figured completely opposite. But then of course, being such a violent society, I'm not surprised.

i dont think there is a direct corelation between the violence of the american society and the fact that war games sell well there. Canadians like CS just as much as the average american.

you might want to do some research before believing all of moore's lies... it's funny how people swallow his crap without even thinking of doubting it... here's a good paper by somebody that documents all the intentionally misleading fallacies in his "documentary": http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html This site also links more articles that verify the first article's validity: http://www.revoketheoscar.com/

If you guys are talking about Eve: The second genesis i think it is rubbish but then again i dont have 20 hours of each day to play on it. It took me 1 1/2 hours i think to get to Uchoshi from kisogo warping and jumping all the way. Earth and beyond is much better i think. it has good graphics decent gameplay good community and doesnt take you 1 day to get anywhere. Yes the 2 or 20 billion kilometer a second warp is good at first but then it just aint fast enough and gets boring. And mining omg dont get me started it SUX it takes forever.
