Electronic Arts has today released the next incremental update for Battlefield 1942 and a set of map editing tools for the game. The 1.4 patch includes a number of gameplay enhancements and bug fixes, plus two new weapon models for the Russian and Japanese assault rifles, a new blood effect, and other visual improvements. The map editing tools are available in open beta form, and EA is asking for feedback on them. The editing tools come in a 12MB file and require the 1.4 update. There's a 54MB sample map pack that may be helpful in learning how to use the tools. The files are available for download from the links below.
Tale of the Tape
It is unfair to compare the number of exploits of a Linux distribution like Red Hat (Nasdaq: RHAT) to Windows Server 2003 to determine whether Linux is safer than Windows, says Jan Hichert, CEO of Astaro, a Linux security solution developer. For one thing, there are more services running on a Linux distribution, Hichert told NewsFactor. But at the same time, attacks on Windows usually draw more attention, so it may seem like Windows is inherently less secure.
