Sony Online Entertainment is now accepting applications for the beta test of its upcoming EverQuest-inspired real-time strategy game.
Sony Online Entertainment has today started accepting applications for the beta test of Lords of EverQuest. In order to sign up, players aged 18 and over will first need to register for a free Sony Station login if they don't already have one.
No information concerning the start date or duration of the beta test is available at this time, but since Lords of EverQuest is scheduled for release in October, it can only be a matter of weeks before the beta commences. You must have an AIM or AOL Screen Name and/or an ICQ Number. You can get an AIM Screen Name from www.aim.com. You can register for ICQ at go.icq.com/register.
- Testing:
Add your ICQ number and/or AOL/AIM Screen Name to our Users Directory
Click here to add your ICQ number and/or AOL/AIM Screen Name to our directory, allowing you to interact with other testers. You can also locate testers by going to a special Message Board set up for this purpose.
- IM with friends
Find out if your friends already have ICQ accounts and IM with them.
- IM with yourself
Once you have the latest ICQ beta software, you'll be able to IM with the AIM and/or AOL on your own computer!
- Add AOL and/or AIM buddies to your ICQ Contact List
Try adding buddies to your ICQ Contact List and verify that they appear properly. Note that some users may not appear if their privacy settings are set to block other users.
- Add ICQ users to your AOL and/or AIM Buddy List
Try adding ICQ buddies to your AOL/AIM Buddy List and verify that they appear properly. When you add ICQ users, you'll be asked to create an alias for that ICQ number. We suggest using something easily identifiable, such as "Bob's ICQ." Note that some users may not appear if their privacy settings are set to block other users.
- Check that Tool Tips display properly
Mouse over the name of a buddy and verify that the information displayed is correct, such as Idle Time, Email Address, etc.
- Smileys and Emoticons
Try using the various emoticons available and make sure that the smiley you send is the one received at the other end. Also, ask your buddy to send various smileys and make sure that the smiley they send is the one you receive.
- Test SMS (Short Message Service-cellular phones text messaging)
If your buddy has an SMS-enabled cell phone, send them a text message from ICQ and verify with them that the correct message was received.
- Test Online Presence
Change your online status (Away, Idle, etc) and verify that the status change is received on the other end. Also, ask your buddy to change their online status and check to see if the correct status is displayed to you.
