EA has announced on the official Battlefield 1942 Web site that a free new map set during the Battle of Britain will soon be released. The new map will have German players attempting to disable four Royal Air Force radar towers and the heavily defended Harwich weapons factory on the coast of England. The German side will be reinforced with the addition of a new fighter-bomber, the Junkers Ju88, while the defending British forces will be able to man the radar defenses. Both of these new weapons are featured in the screenshots above.

His interest in maps evolved from his childhood, he said, because he "grew up all over the place." Hunched in the back seat of the family car, he would puzzle over maps, trying to figure out where they should turn. Five years ago, he began work on a master's degree in geography. His original intention was to map the physical infrastructure of the Internet, to see who was connected, who was not, and to measure its economic impact.
