EA announces that it will release a version of SimCity 4 bundled with the upcoming Rush Hour expansion pack in September.

Electronic Arts has today announced that it will release SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition in North America in September. The Deluxe Edition will include the original SimCity 4 and the upcoming Rush Hour expansion pack, which is scheduled for release in September.

"SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition is jam-packed with all-new content from SimCity 4: Rush Hour and the original SimCity 4," said Lucy Bradshaw, vice president of PC development. "We are celebrating the franchise's first expansion pack by providing this incredible value for fans and gamers. SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition players will experience the thrill and excitement of their city in an entirely new way by taking direct control of planes, trains, and automobiles to drive freely or use to solve missions."

DesktopX is a revolutionary program that allows users to extend their Windows desktop to support true objects.

These objects can be combined together to form themes or used on their own. In short, a user can literally build their own desktop interface and they can do so without being a programmer.

In addition, a user can choose to just use individual DesktopX objects to enhance their existing desktop. DesktopX objects can be anything from a simple picture to an MP3 player, stock tickers, weather monitoring, instant messaging, or anything else that one could imagine having on their desktop.

Users can either create their own objects or download any of the thousands of themes and objects already available and use them.

hopefully they'll fix the bug so the game won't lag after a bit of playing...

It probably lags because your city has become bigger, not just because you have been playing a while.

Either your city is getting bigger, you are in need of more RAM, or there's a memory leak. Are you sure you're using the latest patch?

Also(to make a comment of my own) I think that SimCity 4 is slow. Even on my relatively new AthlonXP 3000/1GB mem/GFX5600 thing it is not exactly blazing.

If you think thats slow, try playing it on a P3 450 with a TNT2 and 256MB RAM.

Expect 5 minute loading times .

Its not that bad on my new PC though. Plus, you guys have got to remember that each individual thing is rendered and calculated. The more you have of them, the more calculations that need to be done: SLOWER!!

I'd still have SC4 installed if I didn't have to turn off "Force AA" on my Radeon 9700 Pro every fvcking time I want to play .... Stupid EA.

Yeah, when I first played this game out of the box I wondered if they accidently shipped some beta's. After playing it for awhile, and hearing other complaints about the engine, I wonder if EA even beleives in beta's or testing their software.

Some patches have made it better...but over all thumbs down.
