So, the Xbox has live capabilities out of the box right?
WTF, besides the 12 month subscription and Stupid Mic type thing do you get for Forty quid?!
#4.1 hobsgrg on 04 Sep 2003 - 23:41
an attractive box?
#4.2 blackice912 on 04 Sep 2003 - 23:42
Downloading extras that you can only get on Live.
#4.3 xEonBuRn on 04 Sep 2003 - 23:54
well, what good is the live capabilities if you don't have the subscription to use it... 12 months is a lot of online game play... aside from the mic I'd pay $40 for that. What is the monthly cost afterward anyway?
#4.4 grafXguru on 05 Sep 2003 - 02:49
a years subscription and a headset aren't enough for 40?

Lagproofage FROM OTHER LAMERS (AS LONG AS YOU DONT SUCK). 1 year of this. and a cool headset (mic-typething) is not at all a bad deal. ms has like 30 or 40 something deicated servers for live.

Microsoft has dedicated servers? Could have fooled me. Most servers are run by the people who actually paid to run them in the first place.

Xbox Live is pretty awesome though, especially with the Mic.

What sucks is I will be seeing even more people without Mics online thanks to this trial, which sucks especially in a team based game.
#5.1 gameguy on 06 Sep 2003 - 05:42
yes, microsoft runs the servers for xbox live. this way, the game publishers don't have to worry about making their own online platform (which would most likely have less features than xbox live) and can concentrate on making a better game

Wait, do you still need to buy the $50 Live! w/ headset?

If not, can you use any headsets or what? I am confused

Or, is it one of the conditions, you can use it, just without headset?

Like StarWars: KOTOR for example can it work? No?

This is Microsoft's way to update the dashboard and bios to fix all the known bugs and try and lock out some of the stupider modchippers. Beware.

i think you only get a trail "access" to xbox live with any of thoes games, i think you might need to have a head set already.
i cant realy see microsoft giving away free headsets and stuff with other companys games and even there own games. sorry if iam worng.
