Web site offers sneak peek of Ion Storm's RPG/FPS sequel.

The official Web site for Deus Ex: Invisible War, Eidos and Ion Storm's anticipated sequel to Deus Ex, went live Friday afternoon. The slick, flash-heavy site offers a bevy of features, including the final trailer and some notes on the game's Byzantine plot. There's also an extensive screenshot gallery and two different wallpapers. Naturally, there's also a pre-order link. Many areas only feature "teaser" content--which is to be expected. The Developer's Journal only has an introduction, and the Game Info section features only the most basic characters, weapons, and biomods. There's also a dead-but-visible link to a demo version. These areas will presumably be filled in as Deus Ex: IW's December 2 release date draws nearer.

GameSpot: Thanks for taking the time for this interview. How far along is the game at this point, or is that even a fair question? It seems like Tribes: Vengeance is practically being developed as two separate games. So we'll ask, how far along is the game's single-player mode, and how far along is multiplayer? What aspects of the game are the team members working on now?

Michael Johnston: Tribes: Vengeance is about 65 percent complete, which means we're on target for a release in Q4 2004. Although the game does feature plenty of single-player and multiplayer content, a great deal of the content and code is shared. For example, all of the player models and map assets are the same in the single-player and multiplayer games. All of the weapons, equipment, vehicles, and physics are also the same. This is deliberate. One of the goals of the single-player experience is to ease players into the multiplayer experience by gradually teaching them about the game in an interesting, story-driven way.

Wow. That site is truly amazing. And I'm having to bet that the game will be too, considering the fact that the first one was so good also.

Now this is more like it. Kudos to Halflife2 and Doom3 for technical innovation, but they still won't stand a chance against DeusEx2.

The problem with Deus Ex was that it had slow-paced gameplay compared to UT, Quake 3, Serious Sam, and the other titans of FPSes during 2000-01. However, because of the RPG elements of the game, it stood out pretty well. Bad thing though, was that the multiplayer sucked so bad, and it really wasn't much of a "deathmatch" game, which is what most tournament FPS-gamers play.

Multiplayer is the last thing I care about on DX2. I want it to be released finally!

I agree.. DeusEx was never meant to compete with UT, Q3 etc.... DeusEx is all about storyline

Origina Dues Ex rules, and this one will rule also... You dont like RPG, forget it... This game is all about strategy, planning, like your there, RPG...
