Atari and Epic Games have announced pricing details and a rebate program for Unreal Tournament 2004. The game will ship for the holidays with a suggested retail price of just under 40 dollars. A special edition will also be available for a suggested price of just under 60 dollars. Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Special Edition will ship as a two-DVD set. Disc one will include all of the game content while disc two will include more than 150 hours of video training from 3D Buzz that will teach fans and amateur mod makers how to use the Unreal Editor to create custom game content. The special edition will come in a metal box and contain a Logitech Internet Chat Headset for use with the game's voice over IP technology as well as an Unreal window sticker. Owners of Unreal Tournament 2003 will be entitled to a ten dollar rebate on the purchase of Unreal Tournament 2004. The rebate will apply to both the standard game and the DVD Special Edition. Owners of Unreal Tournament 2003 will be required to submit a proof of purchase along with a voucher and receipt from Unreal Tournament 2004 in order to receive the rebate.

But the firm added that "significant barriers exist" which may prevent reliable exploitation outside controlled lab conditions.

ISS said that Microsoft has not yet released a patch for the vulnerability, and urged network administrators to assess external exposure to vulnerabilities associated with Microsoft services running on ports 135, 137, 138, 139, 445 and 593 on both the network perimeter and VPN connections.

Speaking at Microsoft's Partner Summit in New Orleans last week, chief executive Steve Ballmer criticised security researchers and their methods of disclosing vulnerabilities early.

"These are people who discover vulnerabilities, and it's part of their job to go public with them," he said.

"What we have done over the last six months is intersect with them to make sure disclosure is done in a more responsible way. I wish these people would just be quiet, but that's not going to happen."

ISS countered that it had speeded up disclosure of the vulnerability because tools are in circulation to demonstrate the DoS condition.

Not true.

4.7GB on DVD can be read @ 16x, or 20MB/sec, in a total of 3 minutes and 55 seconds.
4.7GB on CD can be read @ 40x, or 6MB/sec, in a total of 13 minutes and 4 seconds (not including time it would take to replace CDs)

Total savings: 9 minutes and 9 seconds +

Nice, but it says proof of purchase for UT2003...I didn't keep the receipt.

So how's this rebate gonna' work (it's still unclear). So:
- I buy UT2004
- Send the receipt and a pic of my UT2003 box/discs/serial manual to them
- Then they send me a cheque for £10 (or in dollars)

..?

I'm sure the UPC off the box will be enough. No way can they expect that everyone will keep their receipts for that long, especially for a game.

GjmUK, I don't believe it'll work. It could be your friend's UT2003...

Anyway, finally DVD! Gonna buy it for sure!

Now, this is the reason why people should buy UT2k4.

will the UPC work as Proof of purchace?
Quote this comment Reply to this comment #13 Posted by Hooya on 18 Oct 2003 - 00:47
A picture of the box and UPC won't be enough, but they might accept the actual thing. Many companies require the UPC code cut off the box for rebates and stuff like that. I will be this is no exception - especially since most people throw the reciept or the box or both away as soon as they get it and put their game discs in a CaseLogic or something (like I do).

gahaha, I feel bad for those who bought dvd burners when they were first released at a ridiculous price. How much are they now anyway? Last I checked they were damn cheap.
