- hmm, can't please anybody these days, i'm still going to get it. the game ran fine on my system, probably under 60 fps, but all you really need is 30 for smooth playback. (xp1700, 9700 pro, audigy gamer, 512 ram). i thought the graphics were amazing, the shadows were the best i've ever seen in a game.
personally i like the new interface, i feel it's good from a business standpoint. obviously it does seem like it's more console friendly than pc friendly, but i don't blame Eidos for changing that and some other things, they want to try to make some major money on this thing, especially going into the christmas season. for them to do that, they had to change things like the interface and other things from the original to make it more open to novice and first time players. i still think it's going to be a great game and although i haven't played the full version yet, i think gamespy's review of it will end up being spot on. i'll wait to see if ign mirrors it.

- Why is there so many sucky console ports these days?

- You do know the two games were made directly apart from each other on the PC and Xbox, and have nothing to do with each other's development, right? Built from the ground up on both systems, none of them are ports - and if one of them was, it would be the Xbox version since Deus Ex is and always has been a PC game at heart.

- that sounds unlikely to me, if they were built as 2 separate games, why is the xbox config info just commented out of the ini files and why are many of the settings in those ini files, by the designers own admissions, for the xbox.
(they give a list of things you ought to change on eidos' website)

- After how awesome the first Deus Ex was I couldnt wait for the 2nd one...I was worried that I'd need a new video card to play it but hey, that always seems to happen
but after this whole demo-crisis...they need to fix a few things up before they release this, christmas season or not, who is gonna buy some crappy console port?

Designer Warren Spector addresses accusations of Xbox bias in wake of Invisible War demo release. When Eidos released the PC demo for Deus Ex: Invisible War, it was hoping the sample would whet gamers' appetite for the full game.Apparently, it did not have its intended effect.
The reaction from the PC community seemed to be mostly negative, with forums filling with complaints about the game's simplified interface, clunky graphics, and the absence of the original Deus Ex's skill system. The most common gripe was that, judging by the demo, the PC game might be nothing more than a shoddy port of its Xbox cousin. "This demo feels like a console from the get go," said one disgruntled gamer.
GSpot is a tool that can tell you exactly which codecs are needed to play a certain video file. This is very helpful when you have troubles playing a video file.
You can choose between the two different XviD decoders via the startmenu shortcuts that will be created during the installation. When you have problems with the current active one, then switching to the other one usually solves your problems.
DirectVobSub is a tool for displaying subtitles. Your subtitle file should have the same filename as your video file (for example Movie.avi and Movie.sub) and should be in the same folder as your video file. Then the subtitles will automatically be displayed in most players. FourCC Code Changer is a program for changing the FourCC code of a video file. The FourCC code is used to identify which codec should be used to decode the file. This tool is for expert users only. Matrix Mixer can be used to amplify the sound of a video file. It also can mix stereo sound to multiple channels (useful for 4.1 or higher speaker sets). Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher can be used to switch between two audio streams in a video file that has two audio streams. These types of video files are not very common. BSplayer also has this functionality built-in. So if you use BSplayer, you don't need to install this.
DivX Anti-Freeze is not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. So don't install it if you use Movie Maker. It's not possible to install both the Ligos and the Elecard MPEG-2 decoders at the same time, because that would result in neither of them working. So you can only install one of them.
