After a beta demo this Spring, CDV has now released the final single-player demo for Breed, the upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter by Brat Designs. Details on the demo's contents are scarce as it's simply offering a mission labelled 'Single Player Demo Part 1' where "One of your USC units is under heavy fire from the BREED. They desperately need support against the overpowering enemy." CDV also announced that "there will be a sequel in the near future which will continue the mission. The second part of the demo can only be played once the first part has been installed."

Screenshots looke pretty good... the water effects don't look very impressive, nor does the character geometry (and it doesn't seem to employ milti-texturing as well as games like Doom III which dumb down the poly detail). I guess I'll know for sure once it's done downloading... sounds like a cool concept though, kinda like Halo + (sounds to me a lot like Halo 2, actually).

Good Lord, that demo has some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard! The guy doing the voiceovers is terrible! The graphics are alright, the engine is obviously not very well optimized. I can run Unreal II at full detail levels at a very smooth framerate, and that game definately has better graphics than this one. Some of the scripted sequences show how choppy it can get. Halo is better.

OMG! how can you say such evil things about.

ok the old man voice is crap, yet slightly amusing. but overall its gonna be a classic game, halo sucks.
this runs well good and looks better than u2.

Ok, I'm going to say yes, the voice is crap, no it is not amusing, it is NOT going to be classic, it really sucks, Halo is better than this game can ever be, it runs choppy on high-end systems during the scripted sequences and Unreal 2's graphics are blatantly better than this game on just about every single front (I'm not saying U2 has the best graphics ever, just that they're better than THIS game's graphics).

yea the voices sucked big time. what was up with the radio voice? sounded like all they did was add a bunch of static-wannabe noise and upped the gain to a rediculous amount on the dudes voice.

I enjoyed the first Demo of this, but this has totally ruined it for me!
Yup, it's that ruddy voice over...
Sounds like he's suffering from a major sore throat rather than sound "Macho"!

FYI: THIS DEMO WAS NOT MADE BY BRAT, THE PEOPLE MAKING BREED. THIS DEMO WAS MADE BY CDV.

Don't ask me. CDV was trying to find out how powerful the engine was, so they made a new demo for it. This doesn't reflect the final quality of the game.

Well it's burned me. I don't care who made it, I'll avoid this game when it's released.
#12.1 Scorpio on 09 Dec 2003 - 01:26
Why don't you care who made it? The developer didn't make it, but they did make the game... That's like saying you'll avoid the song "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, even if you like them, just because Johnny Cash covered it, whom we're going to pretend you don't like.

That just makes no sense.
