Infinium Labs announces that its Phantom Gaming Service will be unveiled to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show this week.

Infinium Labs has today announced that its elusive Phantom Gaming Service will be unveiled to the public at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which gets under way on January 8. The Phantom will be a featured product at the Microsoft Windows Embedded Device Showcase exhibit and will also be shown during a special gaming session on the first day of the show.

"We're very excited to be showing the Phantom Gaming Service for the first time at North America's largest trade show," said Timothy Roberts, CEO of Infinium Labs. "This show gives us the unique opportunity to present the Phantom firsthand to both consumers and industry insiders."

The Offrhdreadme.htm file included with the add-in includes a complete list of all of the types of data that the tool will help to remove. By default, you can locate this file in the Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeRemove Hidden Data Tool1033 directory in the drive where you installed the tool. If you installed the tool to a different directory, you can locate this file in the 1033 directory, a subdirectory of the add-in installation folder.

Notes
You should run the Remove Hidden Data add-in on files when you are ready to publish them. This is because some of the data that the tool removes is used by Office for collaboration features, such as Track Changes, Comments, and Send for Review. You should always save to a new file name, rather than overwrite the original file with the new document, in order to preserve a copy of the document containing the original data. The Remove Hidden Data add-in does not work with Information Rights Management-protected or digitally-signed files.

System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP

Note: The Remove Hidden Data add-in has not been tested on Microsoft Windows 2000. Also, the add-in cannot be installed on Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition.

They should have put a shoe box with a lamp cord attach to it. I would look at it, at least that would run better than the excuses there trying to smoke up our butts.

They should seriously consider putting a DVDROM into it. It'll make loading games a whole lot easier.

various people have taken pictures of their "offices" in florida. Its an empty storefront. Its a ripoff people.
#16.1 CrimsonBlur on 07 Jan 2004 - 11:35
and you got this information where? I'd like to see the pictures before I believe something like that, and even then, the pictures themselves could be fake/a joke. Anyway, why do all of you WANT this system to fail? More systems in the market will always be better for the consumer, there is no point in wanting any product launch to fail.

From the article "Since January of this year, about the time we first heard of the Phantom console, the address given for Infinium Labs has been listed as 5380 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key, Florida 34228. This is confirmed by the register information listing the same address for the Infinium Labs website.
Some months back we sent a photographer out to take a look at the Infinium Labs base of operations, but found only a small strip mall. At that time, there was only one open office space, and it contained a single desk and a telephone. Other than that, there were only a few small businesses located at this address. We were unable to tell if the open office space was Infinium Labs or not.

We sent another photographer to the address about six months later only to find that there was still no Infinium Labs located at this address, and that there hasn't been, at least according to the other residents of the mall. We contacted the Mail Boxes Etc. located at this address and discovered that mail sent to the Infinium Labs address would end up there for pick up, there was no actual storefront or office space just a post office box (#409) for Infinium Labs. These are the pictures from our most recent trip to the address listed by the Infinium Labs website. This is the office listed for the last eight months. That fact may make you wonder where the Phantom console is actually being developed. Certainly it makes sense that you would want any mail for your only public contact address coming to your offices, or so you would think."

It will fail.
#18 qoa on 07 Jan 2004 - 06:28
The part I dig is that they say it's about as big as a mid sized pc case turned on it's side.
#19 FrAxElAnK on 07 Jan 2004 - 06:30
probably will fail, but the concept behind it is kinda cool
#20 netstarman on 07 Jan 2004 - 13:54
i was seeing the system it looked like a pc case turned on its side. But the guy shouldnt delay so many times if he shows the system it self already on the website already there to try out. If he shows it on the web then do it. Alot of Neowin folk are pretty smart and could see this. If he didnt have it he would show a mock up of a computer gen. console but he already showed that he had it. buttttt he decided to back off in showing it at plenty of shows, ( CES, E3 etc. ) Show what you got is what i would say to this guy. the thing looks like a shoe box with a lampcord attached to it.

1.) he shows he has it on Jpegs
2.) he decided to hold off showing it, when promised everytime to show it different times at electronic shows and game shows.
3.) his website shows vaporware?????
4.) he doesnt show!! not even the start up display of the operating system.
5.) he says he has had bill gates and steve balmer was showing up at his office.
6.) No games were ever shown to run on the system, where are they ?

My belief is the underpants gnomes were making the games and systems... they also took my underwear.... I'm sadden i miss my underpants.

Well he certainly knows how to hype things up although I dunno how he's planning on working this scam...unless he expects ppl to pre-order and pay over western union which NOONE is dumb enough to do...I really have no idea wtf is going on with this whole phantom thing
#24 raid517 on 08 Jan 2004 - 01:14
Erm, haven't we been hearing about this thing for the last 15 years already? Or maybe it just seems that way?

This thing is bull. Don't part with your cash until you see some proof that it's real.
