Next 'Grand Theft Auto' stop: San Andreas

Rockstar Games, the publisher of the successful Grand Theft Auto series, announced Monday that the next game in the series will be released in October 2004 for the PlayStation 2 platform. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be the fifth game in the GTA series, which has sold over 30 million units and incurred the wrath of parents' groups, Haitian-Americans and a former Presidential candidate.

Rockstar Games president Sam Houser stated Monday, "In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people's expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can't wait to get the game into players' hands."

Hell yeah, but damn only for ps2.....they need to make it xbox too or pc.. then ill get it.. i hate ps2

Who says "one year later"? Jeez, way to post an assumption as a fact.

All they are saying is that it will be released on PS2 in October. It's obvious they will port it to other formats, but don't speculate and post it as fact.

sony had a deal with rockstar so they had the gta series 1 year early than any other format which is why gta3 and gta:vc came out first on ps2

Umm well not GTA4. In the orginal game there was liberty city, vice city and san andreas, they are simply following the 1st GTA. GTA4 will be after this...

They haven't actually said whether it's an extension to GTA3 or if it's GTA4. In the past they did say that their next generation engine would be designed around the next generation of consoles (PS3, Xbox2), so I (and most other people) have the feeling that it will be another GTA3. It's not like they could make much improvement for it while still using the same console (PS2) as they did for the first two GTA3 games.

yer they will put it on xbox and pc adventually. i wonder what more they can do while staying on the same ps2 platform if they think they have made huge improvements???? im sure they will impress as they have before, in all the other GTA games. PS-2 ROCKS!!!
