More screenshots have emerged of Square Enix's Final Fantasy XII, showing the two recently unveiled characters, Balfrear and Fran. Balfrear is a flirtatious and wine-loving hume sky pirate, while Fran is a Viera (humans with bunny ears) warrior, who is in charge of maintaining Balfrear's airship.

The latest issue of Japanese manga magazine Shonen Jump has also unveiled a new character named Panelo, who is the girlfriend of Vaan (which rules out romance with Ashe ...or does it?). Equally cheery and up-beat as Vaan, she looks to Vaan for support, but is seen getting into a scuffle with the protagnist..

I thought Vaan was his/her own girlfriend by the looks of him

Put blonde hair on Michael Jackson and you get Vaan. The game looks slick, but he looks like a dandy.

I can't wait for Advent Children to come out, and I hope they make a sequel of some sort to FFVIII (it deserves one).

This is definitely worth getting...yay FF rocks!

Update: I've just seen the pic of that new character...she is a crossover between Rikku (from FFX & FFX-2) and Selphie (from FFVIII)

Damn that game looks freaking awesome and at or near the maximum capability of the PS2. Square had not ceased to amaze me with ther coding/design skillz.

I never played anything after ff9. that one, 9, was decent, way better than 8, which was really gay. 8 had a boring storyline, dumb combat system, and characters I couldn't have cared less about. That really started FF's downward spiral into boring "interactive movies". FF 6, as far as I'm concerned is and will be for years to come, the pinnacle of what an RPG should be. Remember the Opera House? Who doesn't. Now that's a game deserving of a modern remake...

    wait...

you complain about how you think the new FF's are "interactive movies", and yet you rave about the Opera House scene from FF6, which was, in essence, just an "interactive movie".

someone needs to re-evaluate their opinions.

Will someone please explain to me HOW in the world they are even making new games for the Playstation 2? Seriously. It's like, got the absolute most pathetic hardware I've ever seen yet is capable of running games on a graphical level that still compete with the X-Box and GameCube and PC. Are the microchips like, growing inside of it or something?
