Xbox version confirmed plus Valve reveal they're in touch with "all the console platform holders"
Doug Lombardi, of Half-Life 2 developers Valve, has given the strongest hint yet that the game may eventually appear on a range of consoles. In an interview yesterday he confirmed that an Xbox version is "is in the works but I can't give you an exact date right now."
More pertinently, though, he added, "We're in touch with all the console platform holders and would like to bring the game to as many platforms as makes sense." If the massively-delayed release of the PC version is anything to go by, though, don't hold your breath for the console incarnations.

*Added for EU comparison; it appears its not just the UK getting ripped off.

only reason im even getting it is for the mods.
There are tons of people out there that buy games not because they like the game itself but because they like a mod built ontop of that game.
thats like saying im going to buy a case of beer so i can create a super mix that is even better than plain beer.
a) It was on the worst system out. PS2 just sucks.
b) It was released WAY after the pc version, way after it was actually innovative and amazing to look at. So obviously it wont fair as well.
The reason some PC games dont stay exclusive anymore is simple. Developers know games like Half Life 2/Doom 3 require PCs that are just too expensive for "average joe gamer" - so in order to get more sales, they can simply put it on Xbox, which is easier to do than ps2 or gc since we all know the architecture is basically a pc anyway.
Thats why your beloved xbox hasnt faired so well compaired to the ps2.
Shame it was killed by sega, it was my all time favorite console
Oh, and the PS2's hardware was outdated before it was ever even released. It has as much video RAM as an N64 with the expansion pack, and doesn't even support anti-aliasing. Wake up, people.
Since when did FPS's ever work on consoles anyway
im no longer gonna buy the game...
then they get sued company goes bankrupt having to replace all XBOXS and then no more half life games.. nope none at all. and btw WHY WOULD YOU SAY SUCH A BAD THING..
Consoles are best at driving games using the proportional joysticks, anything requiring fast movement and targeting is best left to a PC with a mouse and keyboard combination!
I've played HL on PS2 and PC, and took the PS2 version of the game back to the shop because it was just plain uncontrolable...
I've played other FPS's on PS2, and none of them come close to the playability you get on a PC...
IMHO !!!
unreal tournament
and any other pc FPS to console port SUCK
you cant have a decent FPS on a console, keep them on pc
Valve is only trying to be kind to every gamer out there. some people might like a gamepad, sure, let them play it on Xbox. someone might like it on PC, sure, let them have it on their PC. but for those people who can't afford a beast of a PC because their not spoilt by their parents like some people seem to be on this board.
just think of FUN and not b!tching all the time. let people have they're own way of doing things and not be apart of some facist regeime where u have to do everything in a certain way!
