Ubisoft has delayed Far Cry Instincts until Q1 2005, a move that "will ensure that both the Xbox and PS2 versions have the same impressive graphics and unique immersive gameplay elements as the highly-regarded Far Cry PC version," according to the publisher's statement this week. It had previously been due out by the end of 2004.

The announcement also marks the first time that Ubisoft has referred to the game specifically in connection with the PlayStation 2. Instincts - a spin-off title in development at Ubisoft Montreal, and "built from the ground up" using Crytek's original Far Cry tech - had been "consoles including Xbox" or something of the sort up to now.

sure it's coming out for PS2, but imagine how bad and limited it will be for the PS2, like splinter cell for PS2, the only platforms powerful enough for games like HL2, Doom3, FarCry or STALKER are the PC and the XBOX (and the XBOX is doubtful)

Forget the sequel...they need to get the v1.2 patch (for pc) out the door already!

Halo was two years out of date for PC, and needed a supercomputer to run it... kinda crappy really. Heck, the XBOX version was out of date (from concept, obviously it was an XBOX launch game) and still pushed the system so hard it had noticable speed problems.

Plus, how they destroyed the atmosphere so bad I will never know... it was so promising from the tech previews.

How is Far Cry even gonna run on the PS2, the graphics will definately have to be limited and I bet you there will be comparisons between the Xbox and PS2 versions just like Splinter Cell.

ud be surprised how much further they can push the graphics on the ps2

Yeah I agree, while the PS2 may not have the equivelant processing power of such consoles like the Xbox...it's still a capable platform...just depends on how willing the developer is willing to learn how to properly use it, I think it's cause the PS2 is so hard to develop for properly, the developers can't be bothered trying and as a result we get crappy games...so if they actually make the effort (and time) to fully use the PS2 I think it could end up quite good (ironically if I get it it'll be the xbox version as I don't have a PS2, got a Xbox )

Well that's what I think anyway

No matter what they do, the Xbox/PS2 just can't produce the "same impressive graphics."

The PS2 version will obviously have the detail levels toned down a bit but it still remains a superb game. After all, once you've looked at it a while it's the gameplay that counts, right?

Agreed!, though graphics add to the overall gameplay. However if it was a great game, I'd buy it even if it had non-desiriable graphics.

did I hear somewhere else that theyre going to make it for Gamecube as well?
I reckon they'd do better making a sequel anyways.
