It's been a bit of a slow summer for PC releases, but that's all about to change in a few weeks with the release of DOOM 3, one of the most highly anticipated game releases in years. id Software's "retelling" of the original DOOM story has been given a new tone and a new look, with an amazing graphics engine powering what we're hoping will be one of the scariest games we've seen in a while. With the game finished, we had a chance to chat with DOOM 3 lead designer Tim Willits, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead and Director of Business Development Marty Stratton to ask them a variety of questions about DOOM 3, the upcoming demo, and a few other topics.

Updates

According to the article at MSNBC, the new iPod will also contain the following features:

  • Longer battery life (50%) through more efficient method of power conservation.
  • Increased averaged play time, now at 12 hours.
  • Multiple On-The-Go playlist support
  • Ability to delete songs off the playlist
  • Users will now be given a choice to play their tunes at 25% slower or faster.
  • Lower price: $399 for 40GB, and $299 for 20GB. The 15 GB model has been discontinued.

Personally, I am hoping that some of these new features will be made available to existing users through firmware updates. I guess we will just have wait and see...

I think one of the scariest games surely would be of the Silent Hill series!

all i know is that "the suffering" is a very scary game. they need a "do not play in the dark", or " do not play alone" disclaimer

There is no scariest games, we are talking about GAMES, just games. I know there will never be a games that will scare me.

Just like horror movies in fact, nothing to scare really but at least, look more real that a video game.

But when I saw the live video of the de**pi*ed guy.. I was not going to puke but I had strange feeling for 2 minutes.

The reason I say SS2 was scary was because the environment you where in when on the two star ships was the kind of environment you could easily live in. Where as from the Doom 3 video and screenshots I have seen the location is already an oppressive set piece and so its easier to make the place scary.

e.g. Its much harder to make a shopping centre scary than say a cave.

Eternal Darkness for gamecube was pretty scary.
