Delay implemented to give retailers more lead time to promote game service, says company pres.

Infinium Labs today said it would delay the launch of its on-demand game service from November 2004 to an unspecified date in 2005. "Infinium Labs today confirmed the company is moving the launch of its flagship Phantom Game Service to 2005," a spokesperson said in a statement sent to the press. "The decision comes at the request of both its retail and marketing partners, who have told the company they want more time to plan promotional and merchandising activities for the new games-on-demand service."

iRider's patent-pending features let users browse, work with, and bookmark multiple pages and sites far more quickly and easily than any other browser. It goes far beyond the "tabbed browsing" features provided by many other browsers and is completely generalized for browsing multiple pages and sites.

iRider has been hailed widely in the press for true browsing innovation, by Wired magazine, PC Magazine's John Dvorak, TechTV, The Washington Post, ZDNet and many others.

Increasing dissatisfaction with the ubiquitous Microsoft Internet Explorer is spurring many people to consider alternatives, and iRider has gained many converts who are dissatisfied with the features of other alternative browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox and Opera. "It's very gratifying that so many people appreciate the innovations we've implemented in iRider," said Ken Broomfield, CTO, Wymea Bay. "We weren't satisfied with the modest incremental refinements seen in browsers over the last ten years and even in the newest browsers, so we've tried to take browsing to the next level," he said.

That's a load of bull. Retail doesn't need anything done, they just haven't completed the console yet. I'm not the first to say, "I smell a scam."

Actually retailers might very well be the problem, nobody wants to sell the thing

Every game out there has a delayed release date. I don't see any difference here.

People in the gaming business are really bad at time management. That's it.

Infinuim is located right where I live, im minutes from there corperate offices, I dont' know what to think if its a scam or weather its going to be good, but what I can tell you is that I see the infinuim logo on a huge f*cking building.... so I doubt it can fall under the 'scam'.
#15.1 DownInFlames on 26 Sep 2004 - 23:14
I live within minutes of a big building that used to have the logo BRE-X on it. Do a google search and find out how well that company worked out.
#16 mikemyres on 26 Sep 2004 - 21:48
HAHA, and when was this originally meant to be coming out?....................
#17 Mav Phoenix on 26 Sep 2004 - 21:50

#18 mikeyj on 27 Sep 2004 - 12:34
I really starting to think that Infinium Labs is covered in SH*T... Everytime I heard something about their game console, there's always a delay or something isn't right. Articles about Infinium Labs is beginning to sound like a fairy tale in the making.

The phantom is a pos. Sorry but all it is in general is a COMPUTER!! with a stupid subscription based service to get games. Hey guess what you can make that service on the PC if you really want to do it. I do love how they say you can get the hardware free if you sigh up for 24 months of our service. Sure spend $700+ to get a PC for free or pay $199-$299 for it. Oh but wait if you do buy the hardware and end up staying for that 24 months they give you back the money you spent on the console. Why bother? everything on that is from a PC and just redesigned to look different. All of the games on it will work on our PC's that we have now without fail.
#19.1 Warlok on 27 Sep 2004 - 15:29
What's even better is that by the time it's released (sometime in 2005 ) it'll be considered a low-end pc at best and likely won't be able to play newer games very well!
