- When did they say that? All I heard was that they would make it affordable. 12.99 per month for 6 months is affordable to me.

- i think he was hoping it...like i was hoping it. with the amount of copies of the game itself taht blizzard will sell (think of the fanatics in korea), when you add europe, japan, and the states to that mix, i could envision a scenario where WOW easily has 500,000 to 1 million members. aside from the serious amount of money they'd make on the boxed versions, which would recoup their development costs, they could have gone with a $10 a month plan and make alot of profit just based on the volume of people who would subscribe.

- I would consider paying $4.99 to $9.99 per month but no more. There are too many other good games out on the market that I can spend my money on.

- errr i was really excited and wanted to buy it at launch, but because of money issues i think ill have to wait a couple of months... now that i know itll be $14.99 ($18.09 CND for us Canadians), i dont feel that bad about missing the launch
it may not seem steep for many of you guys, but as the months pass your gunna see lots and lots of your money go into this game

- $14.99 Is not bad to me. I'm buying the CE as well. What can I say Im addicted to this game, they could probally get away with charging ME personally twice that much and Id still pay it.

- Like I would ever pay over $150 per year to play the same game. I hate mmorpgs, they are perfect money making scams basicly.

Yes, that's right. Not late December. Not (desperate fear) sometime early next year. No: just weeks away. The lucky few who have been invited into one of the title's many betas will already have some notion of what it means for Blizzard, already acknowledged masters of RTS design, to tackle an MMORPG. Suffice to say, we're excited too. Very excited.
Blizzard has also announced pricing for WoW: the month-to-month subscription plan costs $14.99 per month, a three-month plan costs $13.99 per month, and a six-month plan is $12.99 per month.
World of Warcraft will be available as a standard edtion for a suggested $49.99, and as a special collector's edition for $79.99. The special edition includes the game on both CD-ROM and DVD, a behind-the-scenes DVD, an exclusive in-game pet, a cloth map of the game world, a soundtrack CD, an Art of the World of Warcraft coffee table book, and a commemorative game manual signed by the development team. Both versions include a first month free. Pretty sweet.
"World of Warcraft has been our largest undertaking to date," said Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. "When we set out to create a massively multiplayer online game, our goal was to expand the scope of the Warcraft universe by offering an incredibly dynamic game experience. We're extremely proud of the game we've created, and we believe players will be very pleased when they see what we have in store for them."
Now, one of the only questions remaining -- apart from what your first character name will be -- is whether you can finish Half-Life 2 in time to pick up the next great PC release of the season. We think you can. We think this is going to be one very hot holiday.
