- I had to install/re-install it 4 times for the game to install properly. I kept getting file xxx.clb in Sounds.gcf is corrupt or unsuable. I did get authentication erros but it said it unlocked the game anyway would try again later.

- The game ran OK for the most part, and it's very enjoyable, but it did BSOD my PC a couple of times.
Good thing I'm getting my new PC today.

- I get a fatal memory error and can't even load the first level. What's strange is that Counter-Strike Source and Half-Life Source work just fine.

QUOTE Of note, no users who downloaded the copy directly from Valve's download service, Steam, have reported problems.
I bet Valve did this on purpose so people won't buy from VU anymore and just go through Steam!

- I have no idea what so ever why this was even posted. this problem was posted on the steam web page at 4:30 yesterday and just over and hour and a half later, another post was made to alert everyone that the problem had been resolved. and i'm referring to the support forums, i'm talking about the steam news page here.

- Maybe it was posted because not everyone who come to this site goes to the Steam webpage often, if at all, yet we still like to be aware of issues surrounding popular software and whatnot. News is here to help, not piss you off.

- my game is stuttering everytime speech or I enter new areas. I've tried to read up on the problem on halflife2.net, steampowered.com, hlfallout etc. and several people are having the same problem as me. The stuttering really ruins the game experience and I've stopped playing the game until it's fixed. I don't think it's my system specs 2400+, 768 ram, and 9800 pro and I've kept the recommend settings in the game.

- ya, ppl who bought it at stores wasted money. 6 cd's, baahh. just order it off of steam, easier than driving. then get a dvd+r, and burn it. i think 1 dvd better than 6 cds. only problem that everyone is getting is the sound issues. the game likes to studder and go DUUUUURRRRRR on sound parts, specially when u get into the city, and u have to have a team with you. o thats just horrible, everyone starts to speak and boom, slow comp lol.

- i love the bit were you can't sell the game if you dont want it anymore after you register it with steam dont you just love drm also you still have to put the stupid disk in the drive after you register it just to play

- It is sad how the people who actually go out and buy the game are the ones that suffer from all of this anti-piracy crap. Meanwhile people who steel the game don't have to deal with it.
-
#20 Posted by virtorio on 17 Nov 2004 - 22:19
- When I brought the game I expected some problems, and apart from forgetting to open the correct ports on my router, I had no actual problems with the process.
-
#21 Posted by MrXBob on 17 Nov 2004 - 23:23
- No problems here. Great game. It's nice having the UK retail DVD version
Screw 6 cds or downloading little bits and bobs for weeks before release just to end up with a crappy looking dvd-r!

- I took me well over 12 hours before I could actually play the game that I payed good money for. If I would have known I couldn't actually use the software I purchased I wouldn't have purchased it.
The game is decent but I'm going to be bitter about waiting for 12 hours to play it for a long time. The thing that really irked me off was that if I had downloaded a cracked copy (yes they are avalible alread) I would have been able to actually use the game way before my legitimatly purchased version.
Sorry to say but Valve really screwed up this time, if you going to required Internet activation then you should be required to have a 1-800 number like Microsoft, Macromedia, ect. do in case the servers **** out.
Yeah I'm sorry for sounding like a rather angry person but I don't see why I should have to wait for 12 hours to use a piece of software that I paided good money for. But I will say the game itself is very good. -
#22.1 Posted by Chestah on 18 Nov 2004 - 08:51
- Yeah i reckon they should have a phone number as well...
but surely you can't hold this grudge against valve for ever! i think this game is extremely good!
Definitly worth a 12hr wait geez..
I'm sure valve will learn from this mistake and it won't happen in Hl3
who cares about the wait
its the game i paid for and i got way more then i thought i would!!!

Several Half-Life 2 users who finally got the long-delayed game into their hands yesterday got exactly what they didn't want--more delays. The Half-Life 2 forums have been busy with gamers saying online authentication delays have rendered their copies temporarily useless. Of note, no users who downloaded the copy directly from Valve's download service, Steam, have reported problems.
In a statement from Valve posted on its Web site shortly after 4:30 p.m. PST, the company stated: "We've received a number of reports from people experiencing delays with Half-Life 2 authentication. We are investigating the issue and will update everyone as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and hope to have everyone in the game very soon."
Multi Replace offers a number of nifty search and replace features. For example, all replacements can be limited only to files stored in a specified folder/subfolder or only to files of certain type(s). It is also possible to exclude files from being processed. There is even an automatic backup option that makes it possible to revert back to old files in case anything goes wrong. More importantly, there are several choices for replacement actions - replace with, replace between, insert before, insert after or delete. File type masks, case sensitivity, customized replacement rules and batch or one-by-one processing options are available as well. The program builds itself into Explorer's context menu and is always readily vailable. For added convenience, all processed files can be exported to a specified output older. The replacement settings can be saved for future processing. Multi Replace is 100% FREE to download and try. Get it now and you won't go back to your older, slower, one-file-at-a-time solution.
