Blizzard plans to give certain users an extension on their free trial period for massively multiplayer title World of Warcraft, which launched in the States last Tuesday and became available for pre-order in Europe on Friday.
The gesture comes in response to criticism of technical issues surrounding the game's launch. It seems that despite running a couple of "stress tests" in the run-up to release to make sure the game could cope with demand, the developer was forced to almost double its server capacity in order to keep up - and this created some issues that made it impossible for some players to log in for a short while.

Thanks to 477!14 for the heads-up on this one!

If you ask me, that is kind of a joke of a stress test, limiting the amount of people that can log on....
If they wanting to do a true stress test, they should have made it completely open for everyone.
But from what I've heard, there were stress problems in the open beta and stress tests periods. Bad Blizzard, very bad!
Is there any way i can play the game or a beta test or WHATEVER before February next year?
Seems quite harsh on teh europenas, why should we wait 3 months longer?
they make awesome games but they always have problems with each of their titles at the beggining. A friend bought it and for now he says it's great but .. overloaded server and bugs
Oh well, apparently, I am not missing much, as I don't really have the patience to wait in queue
the lag and bugs are crappy, but most of the ppl wont notice them because no one is high enough level yet.
also there are no ques if you do not pick a highly populated server
Before crying, remember any launch title of MMORPG, tell me one that didn't crashed once on the first month... Even EQ2 crashed everyday from the launch date until 1 month later... Ask any MMORPG player (that are not "EQ is the best" or "x game is the best" ) , WoW is once of the best launch that was. Crashed once since the start, all the other are daily maintenance, schedule on a regular basis to help the servers and install the new one... and its between 4 and 5 am EST... Since all players are from states/canada, there isn't alot of players on those time...
Seriously, with the launch the game had, ppl are just crying for nothing. It's a very good start, no prob, some lag sometime but everything is far better then any mmorpg launch...
As for the queue, its only for server with high population... when you get a queue to create a character, its because you selected a server with high population like a moron... Take medium or low population, like they suggest (or the suggested server, this feature is there not for nothing), and you won't have to wait... And yes, it's not only when creating a character... I get these when loging on my account... my server got high population 2hours after I started played... launch date, you never know what server to take lol
but you know, since the start the servers have just been getting more stable. i have never had to wait in a queue (i'm on a highly populated pacific server). and i've only seen one or two bugs (one being on my friend's computer) and i'm level 22 at the moment.
and uh, the server's "population" is based on the time you check it. go on at 4am pst and all of the pacific servers will register as "low" population. so it's pretty stupid to blame someone for being on a populated server if they say signed up at 1 am when the population said "low".
also there are a lot of people that are high level already. i've heard rumors of people reaching 60 already, and i have personally seen 44+s in the world, with mounts
but yeah, best mmorpg launch i have ever seen, and i have been around for a few. not to mention that blizzard is actually giving us extra free time to compensate for the play time we've missed (something i've never seen another company do at launch).
