Rockstar Games has now made Grand Theft Auto 2 available to download for free.
Rockstar made the original GTA available to download sometime ago. The original, and now GTA2, have been revamped and remastered to work with today's PCs. However, they do note that the game still may not work correctly, and they cannot take responsibility for any problems caused.
GTA2 was the final game in the series to be 2D for the PlayStation and PC. It was an excellent step-up from the original. Looking back on it now, Rockstar has performed quite an amazing feat by completely transforming the GTA series. It started off with a violent, bloody, exciting game...that had no 'Save' option. It then stayed loyal to its origins with GTA: London, before adding an amazing 3 islands with GTA2.
But then, GTA changed so drastically, it would never be the same again: it went 3D. GTA3 astonished all gamers, and it was a true success, especially for its first time under a new engine. Vice City proved to be even more successful, with incredible missions and tonnes more scope. And then we had San Andreas. The game of all games. The multiple record breaker. In six or seven years, could we see GTA: San Andreas freely available to download from Rockstar Classics? We'll have to wait and see...

In its twenty year history Reflections has created a number of break-out hits, including the Destruction Derby titles for the PlayStation, famous Amiga action title Shadow of the Beast, and, of course, the Driver series, whose success led Atari to acquire the studio in 1998.
The most recent title in the Driver series, Driv3r, was Atari's biggest commercial hope for this year, but the game launched to hugely polarised critical reaction - ultimately leading to allegations from some quarters that the firm had offered bribes or marketing deals in return from high review scores from certain publications.

but it was on the dreamcast- don't forget the dreamcast
EDIT: It seems they use an IP address in their form. I changed that IP to www.rockstargames.com, then at least I got some response, an error message about undefined variables (some stuff that's not being defined in the form to begin with, like "secondary_address" and "pw" ).
Then at least I got to an EULA screen (manually, after looking through the error messages) and pressed OK, then behold - more error messages, about a missing file (GTA2INSTALLER.ZIP) this time. Looks like these guys aren't quite up to scratch on PHP programming. Or they just haven't uploaded the file yet. Who knows.

"Due to overwhelming response, we have had to limit the number of concurrent connections to our download server. If you receive an error page, please try again later."
but they moved the download to another server and there's no way to get it until the server is back up
That takes you to the agreement page but it fails after that!
Patch 1.3 (I think) fixed it, but GTA was patched and done when it got free.
Don't know about this one. Trying to download it.... there's no way that they are going to get any information from me.
Well that's just my opinion, and yes I still love Nintendo
There are Windows ports, but you still need the big GRP file.
Edit: Cos they want info from you. My bad.
It seems pretty useless.
A vast majority will be fake anyway.
That would just make sense though.
Their stupid server is down.
Does anyone have it yet?
I can't download it, I want to know if anyone got it or if the server have been down all the time.
Maybe the server IP/address is wrong or something... maybe someone can point me to the right address. :|
What if the address to the server that you submit your information to, is wrong? That's what I'm asking.
If someone got their hands on it earlier maybe they can tell if it's still the same address.
This version is even newer than the retail version with the latest patch.
BRING THE SITE BACK UP!
I already emailed them with and offer fore $29.99 USD
Edit: they just replied telling me to stop spamming them
Could somebody please be as so kind as to post the link to the exe file? Cheers!
er...they ain't gonna do that any time soon.
That takes you to the agreement page but it fails after that!
and its the 27th now!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, we are experiencing a high volume of downloads now and your information has not be collected.
Please try back another time.
But you still can't download it :/
Just haven't commented here yet.
I was also able to download 60kb of gta 2 wtf? (eula trick)
edit: got it working, cant wait to play gta 2 optimized!
