After gathering all your suggestions and being fortunate enough to have blackice912 get a survey system up and running, it is now time for everyone to start voting for the best of the best for 2004. You will use your Neowin login information to log in and vote and will only be allowed to vote once, so make sure you select the right choices.

Please note, that I will not be adding any more categories or games. In some places, you will find PC and console games in the same category and it's intended as such. This is about gaming, on a whole.

Also, make sure to select one choice in every category and go all the way to the end. Your votes will not be counted, otherwise. Voting ends January 14th.

Guys, please realize I gave you about a month's time to suggest games for each category. Either way, the choices will have to stay as it is too late to edit them now. Also, if it wasn't nominated originally, then it probably wouldn't win anyways.

Because you neglected to take the time to nominate them.
#2.2 vetbangbang023 on 01 Jan 2005 - 18:21
It was pinned in the forums for a month. All you had to do was look.

It would have been nice, yes, but this was a lone project started by myself that was slow to take off. I have no idea how this will turn out and I already know that next year, there has to be more awareness made of the nominations. Learn from your mistakes, only way to do it.

Well, Spyder, it was posted in the gamers forums and was mentioned multiple times in the staff forums. There's not much else I can do to make it visible to you. In the end, you still have to look.

DirtyLarry: It was stickied in the general Gaming forum. Yes, I should have advertised it more, you're right, but I just didn't know if it would even make it through the nomination period. That doubt, coupled with a hectic work schedule for the holidays, and I just wound up messing that up. Thank you for understanding.

Steven: It was right there. The thread was rather large and stickied, so it's not like it passed under the radar entirely.

From those that submitted well thought out ideas about the faults, I took their ideas and made sure to thank them for them.

DirtyLarry's reply is an example of well thought out. Hep ointed out my mistakes and provided suggestions on possible fixes for the future. He wasn't brash and didn't cry and didn't simply say "it wasn't posted" or "I didn't see it".

The list was completely up to the members. I simply started off with some initial games listed but was up for any and all suggestions. Mario Kart was close enough to make it in and Metroid is a FPS, at least partly, and does some things other FPS'ers haven't as of yet, such as the water drops on the mask.

Didn't come out in time. If this work, the awards will return next year and those games will be elligible. Obviously, something like KOTOR 2 would not be excluded if it was out at the time of list creation.

I am trying to get in touch with blackice912 now about the errors you are experiencing, please hang on.

That game is still around? Either way, though, it's not a 2004 release.

Where the hell were you to nominate them? The thread was there. As far as I'm concerned, AA and BF bring nothing new to the table as far as multiplayer goes. UT brought in brand new game modes and vehicles, CS: S was a complete upgrade to the engine and changed gameplay in many ways, Halo 2's mp is just absilutely a thing of beauty, SC had a very unique style to it's mp, and the use of physics in HL2: DM made it stand out. Honestly, AA is just another tactical shooter and BF has been the same since the original, with just minor additions to the basic core system. Either way, you could have nominated them, but you missed the sticky thread in the gamer's section. Not my fault that you missed it.

No, there's no need for such a specific category. FPS is FPs is FPS. Also, if you took the time to read the article you would see that I'm not adding any more choices since voting has already begun.

As stated, it did not come out in time. It will be eligible for next year's awards.
