Console gaming will never be the same again, as Microsoft Game Studios has announced a June 28 release date for the highly anticipated Halo® 2 Multiplayer Map Pack.

The multiplayer expansion pack, which is the first of its kind for a console title, contains nine new multiplayer maps to push gamers' skills to their limits and will be available in both retail outlets and via Xbox Live™. The retail package also features two new videos: an animated short from the single-player story in New Mombasa and a mini-documentary that includes interviews with the map designers, combat strategies, and fly-throughs of the new maps.

The retail pack also allows gamers who prefer offline play via System Link and split-screen to upgrade their Halo 2 experience with new maps. The retail version of the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack carries a suggested retail price of $19.99 (U.S.).

Sounds Cool

True, but I can't believe that they make you pay for extra stuff. I mean you buy the game, the xbox, the xbox-live subscription, and then they make you pay for new content. Well, I don't own Halo2, so I won't be buying then, but £10-12 for some maps doesn't sound good to me. I think that they should be free really. But then who am I to say. Very clever marketing/sales from Microsoft and Bungie if they can get people to buy it.

Reasonable price also, 9 maps + extras for €20.... Thats a giveaway,
And those with live gets them free at the end of summer..... Nice

You still get charged for somethings over Xbox Live, I can't belive such a big upgrade will be free

Quote from site:

Two additional maps, Sanctuary and Turf, will be available for purchase via Xbox Live for $5.99 (U.S.). To complete the Map Pack collection, subscribers can download the five remaining maps on June 28 for $11.99 (U.S.).

Quote from bungie:

By late summer, ALL the maps will be available for free.

As nauge said, they'll all be free over live if you have the patience to wait for them.

I'm a bit unhappy that they didnt come out with some type of Hang Em' High map update, on Halo 2.
#6.1 glazzz on 27 Mar 2005 - 23:58
bungie said hang 'em high sucked with the new weapons and new physics, so thats why they didn't release it.
#6.2 DeepThought on 28 Mar 2005 - 03:36
True... I'd, for one, love to see direct ports of every H1 map, but you have to keep in mind that they're building each map from the ground up for a new physics engine and with altered features, so it'll feel radically different any way you do it. They have to keep in mind which maps still work considering the changes, and apparently Wizard works fine. I guess especially the Carbine and BR would make the longer distances of that HUGE map seem a lot less, among other things. In any case, I love the maps they have and Beaver Creek is still my favorite.

I, along with my friends believe that Hang em High was indeed the best map, and we are dissappointed that they are not making it for Halo 2. I would have though that if they decreased the overall size of the map by 25% and then have everyone start with the battle rifle (along with other map alterations like Battle Creek-->Beaver Creek) it would have been great.

When the Halo 2 for PC will be out???
#9.1 gameguy on 29 Mar 2005 - 07:47
Never. Seriously, why does everyone think Bungie's required to make a PC port? They never said they would. And if they are, where are all the beta tests and rumors forcing Bungie/Microsoft to give some hints out? Face it, Halo 2 isn't coming out for PC...

The Levels look cool, but i dont have xbox Live.

Maybe it will come out on some Xbox-Demo CD, like the Splinter Cell (1) levels.

Next time don't only read the comments -_-

doesn't seem quite right b/c basically if you want all 4 maps at the end of april you have to shell out $5.99 then at end of June if you want the bonus materials you have to pay $19.99 and buy the 2 maps you already purchased again, I know I don't want to wait an extra 2 months to purchase the April maps ... so effectivly they are milking antoher 26.00 out of us

if only microsoft were more like valve, after half life 2 came out all the upgrades and enhancemens (HL2 DM, etc.) were free. It seems the only thing they both enjoy doing is pushing back release dates.
