Senior sources at two key publishers have indicated that the delay to Sony's PlayStation Portable launch in Europe may be even more severe than previously believed - with a September date now rumoured to be under consideration.
The handheld console, which launched in North America last week, has not been given a firm ship date in Europe since it slipped past its originally planned launch window in March. It's now widely believed that June is the earliest possible date for the system to arrive - but comments from two senior sources close to the development of titles for the PSP have suggested that Sony may be considering slipping the system past summer entirely.

"Readily available digital video content remains a key driver for the portable multimedia player market," said Josh Martin, associate research analyst at IDC. "The proliferation and growth of video service providers will serve to fill the existing video content void and increase adoption of portable multimedia players such as Windows Mobile-based devices." A one-year premium membership to the MSN Video Downloads service with access to all available videos is $19.95 (U.S.). What exactly is it why they cant release the PSP here? Theyve managed it in Japan and the US, it cant be because of supply shortages, as they have stacks left in the US!?
