Valve's Lombardi confirms console port for "late summer"; Aftermath won't be included.

A British Microsoft source has claimed that Half-Life 2 on Xbox is now likely to ship in September in Europe, quashing rumours that the port is to grace Microsoft's next generation console as a launch title later this year. Valve's Doug Lombardi added credence to the news this morning, but fell short of specifying a release date. "We plan to finish development of Half-Life 2 Xbox in late summer and have it available everywhere very shortly thereafter," he told Eurogamer. "No specific date to share just yet." US reports are suggesting that the game is to be finished in August.

If it was to be made for Xbox 2 it would only push release date further back..No way could they release it in time for a possible xmas release (if that is when Xbox2 is released).

Hmmm... I imagine Aftermath will be available for purchase on Xbox Live shortly after release - I can't see Valve missing out on such an easy opportunity for money.

No... do you realise how long it would take to download a full expansion pack like that? Live downloadable content is for small things like an extra mission or two, new weapons/characters/cars/whatever. Not things that will mean you have to leave your Xbox idle for 3 hours while it downloads a whole new game. Aftermath isnt just a few extra tacked-on levels. It's like Opposing Force or Blue Shift was for Half Life 1, only you still play as Gordon in this one.

Why? There are dev kits out for the xbox 360, surely they have one. They really need to release it for the xbox 360 so that it can be played in all of it's beautiful, hi-res glory.
