The graphics look apalling but gameplay and the amount of freedom seem to make it worth buying.
Does look quite fun, may be worth the askiing price.

I really wouldn't consider the graphics that bad, especially considering it came out nearly two years ago.
I've been playing since release and enjoy it quite a bit, though I do have a recommendation: There have been numerous changes and additions lately, so I would not be surprised if there will be another 7 or 10 day trial coming up some time soon. If you are considering it, you may want to hold off a bit and see.

It's well worth the asking price.

I've been playing since just after release. The "Total Experience" costs about the price of a normal expansion but you get the original release, the first expansion (Jump to Lightspeed) and the new expansion all in one sweet package.

Plus on top of that you get an exclusive new speeder for use in the game for buying this in retail. Existing players who preordered instead got Obi-Wan's creature mount from Episode III. It's ok, but not nearly as fast in game as in the movie.

Do not pay for it. The developers have totaly ruined the game, publish updates take at least 20 hours of down time. The developers do not fix bugs, and they have totaly ruined the professions of the game.

This is the reason I recommend people to try a trial, when one comes out. Many people seem to enjoy exaggerating the truth, and others get scared because this happens.

I remember server outages when the game first came out, and there were some longer ones when the combat upgrade went in, but 20 hours is very rare. That having been said, they have had trouble with the publish that went in this morning (adding multipassenger vehicles, etc), and the servers have not yet been brought up. As I have said though, this is very rare, and they had very poor timing given the retail release of the Total Experience.

Ummm. publish updates usually takes 4-6 hours at most.

publish 16 for the CU was special in how much of the game it affected, and now with publish 17 they have run itno some serius server issues they're working out.

on average, SWG is about the most stable MMORPG there is at the moment, it's also the most advanced, there's noone that comes near the stuff you are bale to do in SWG.
Also whent he game was launched almost 2 years ago, no graphics cards where able to show all the graphics at the time. the graphics in this game, may not be top of the line. but for an MMORPG, they're not very far behind..

also consider how many publishes this game has compared to others, such as WoW. not 2 years yet, but they have 17 publishes, each publish adds major content. EQ2 also has frequent publishes, but not as much as SWG. SoW on the whole do a very good job in adding in a lot of content to the game after launch though.

The only real problem with SWG right now is the abundance of Jedi, but SoE is looking into this.

Is that why yesterdays publish (Puyblish 17) Was down for 22-23 hours?

They closed the servers down at 3:30AM PST, said they would come back up at 11am PDT. Then they said 6PM PDT, and they didn't come up until 2-3am PDT the next day.

yes, they may add content, but players are asking them NOT to now, and have them fix the bugs. Jedi is totally screwed over, most professions are too. A lot of broken skills and specials, tons of bugs.

I do not recommend this game. I am cancelling one account and canceling the other in July when it runs out. (It would be sooner, but SOE illegal charged me money and is refusing to refund my account, so I am stuck with it another month)

Reading only the very first line of a big posts takes great skill and intelligence and makes you look very smart. yes...

and you do realized there are severaql teams workgin on SWG, it pretty much has the biggest dev team of any MMORPG. and there is at least 1 or 2 teams exlusively dedicated to fix bugs. HOWEVER, everyone can't do this. or it gets messy. and a lot of content can be added safely withut adding bugs or affecting other systems.

also the the game is nowhere near as troubled as you indicate. you sound like one of the idiots who post on the SWG pboards even though they cancelled their accoutn MANY months ago and don't even know what they're talkign about, they just hang aroudn to whine.

Actually depending on your video card the graphics do look better then in that video (at least on a Gefore 4 Ti4200 64meg card it did.

The video also makes it look more exciting then it really is. Its a fun game (or at least was last year when I played it) but it has its problems. I wanna play it again, but waiting on a free tiral for that.
