Pirates of the Sword Coast module for the RPG now available on BioWare's online store.

Neverwinter Nights just got patched...eye-patched, hook-handed, and peg-legged, that is. The new premium module for the role-playing game, Pirates of the Sword Coast, allows dungeon masters to throw gamers on a swashbuckling adventure off the shores of the fabled Sword Coast.

The module will add 8 to 12 hours of gameplay, and was intended for characters level 5 through 10 (characters of lower levels will be scaled to the adventure). As a gritty ship captain, gamers will be able to assemble a crew from 10 potential first mates and sail off to battle new creatures on the high seas.

Pirates of the Sword Coast is now available for $9.99 on BioWare's Web site.

this as got to be one of the best rpg's out there... you don't need the premium modules to enjoy this game though...

Don't like the Premium Policy, really.

Well, you can opt to not buy any of the modules if you don't like the policy. However, most of the campaigns (well, ALL of them atm) that are being sold are really of "Premium" quality. (i.e. better than the original NWN storyline)

Is this expansion available for Linux also? I thought I heard they had a Linux version for NWN...

You can already install your Windows version of NWN onto any *nix-based installation. Check this page out for installation.

It's not really a "full" expansion, but a module that extends the gameplay for singleplayer and multiplayer. And yes you can use it on the *nix version.

I like the idea with NWN, but don't like much of the implementation...

Crappy 3D engine and aged even when it was introduced (although RPG's are about storylines and character development, it wouldn't hurt if the graphics didn't look like crap), and as for the editor it was awfully slow, taking seconds just to open up e.g. creature properties on my 2.6 GHz P4.

I'm hoping for some huge technical improvements in NWN 2. Again, the idea is awesome and truly unique, but please make a modern quality game & editor out of the idea. If I was just after a storyline and wished to make my own ones, I could just read and write books. A good CRPG need to have more than that.

Did you upgrade to 1.64 (hell, now it's 1.66) when before trying the editor? I have a P4 2.4GHz (final Northwood) with 512MB DDR-RAM and opening up creature properties/script data takes almost no time at all.

Besides, the graphics don't look as good because you're comparing it to a modern game. NWN was released in 2002, when the GeForce 2 MX and 4 Tis reigned. (God, the 8500 and 9100 sucked) They still look okay even today, nowhere near "crap" as you say.

Hah.... good title for a moment there I thought that NWN 2 or something gets cancelled - but its just another FINE premium module
