Sony Computer Entertainment is planning a new PSP model in the not too distant future. The paper, released by Piper Jaffray, claims that SCEI is currently working on a hard drive-enabled PlayStation Portable.
He states that:
"Microsoft is expected to launch its X-Box 360 platform in the U.S. on November 22, 2005. We project that Sony and Nintendo will launch their next-gen systems in late-2006 (in U.S.). We also expect Sony to launch the next generation of its PSP (including an audio/video hard-drive) in mid-2006."
As to whether PJ is on the money it still remains to be seen. As Apple has shown with the launch of the iPod Nano, hard drive technology is becoming less appealing for use in portable consumer electronics. He also ststed that the new version of the PSP is expected to be released during the the summer of 2006.
