Nintendo Insider and other various websites are reporting that an in-car video game system will be released by Nintendo that allows you to play audio CDs, DVDs, and Game Boy Advance games.

So this is a large Game Boy Advance with DVD/CD features? That’s what it seems to be. The in-car system is reported to have a 10.2 inch display, which causes me to pause as I wonder if my GBA games will even look good at that size. In the bigger picture that doesn’t even matter since this “Super GBA” can be taken out of its in-car dock and be used as a portable device. Can’t you just see it becoming a standard public school backpack accessory?

Other features included in this device are wireless infrared headphones so you can relax in the back seat and play the thirty-ninth new Tony Hawk game, auxiliary jacks (no description on what they are for, but probably a direct line for headphones), 6-pin serial port for who knows what (the homebrew scene probably just jumped for glee), and the required game slot for Game Boy Advance games.

There is no information on cost, estimated release date, or full dimensions, but you can probably guess it will cost less than the Revolution, shipped sometime near the holiday months, and be around the same size as a standard portable DVD player.

I was totally not knocking public schools. All I meant was that when a new portable device comes out, you see it in every backpack. Seeing this thing in a backpack would look out of place.

If you see it as negative, I apologize. I did not mean to come off that way. I'm really looking forward to this device, as I'll probably be installing it in my car.

Then go take a look at the Nintendo Insider website, and Joystiq if I remember correctly.
