New spatial measurement system detailed; will the Xbox 360 eventually incorporate a Revolution-styled player interface?

Nintendo has made no secret of its "blue ocean" strategy for the next generation of console wars. Instead of getting bogged down trying to do the same thing its competitors are doing, only better, the company is looking to explore new waters, creating markets where there are no competitors. One of the prime examples of this strategy is the motion-sensitive controller for the Nintendo Revolution, but the blue ocean Nintendo had envisioned could be getting pretty crowded by the time the system comes out.

I guess he means what does this technology have to do with the kinds of things MS does? Well that kind of technology could certainly be used for the XBox, or who knows, Origami?

its better explained on shacknews.

it basically says that MS now have a patent for something like an eyetoy to track movement using 2 or more camera's.

it'll b no match for the revo controller cos its not as sensitive, those who have used the sony eyetoy know how fun it is but its not responsive enough for something like an fps.

Why would Nintendo not already have the patent themselves. Kind of foolish, right?

I think a lawsuit may be pending.

again, history repeats itself..., lack of originality these days..

EDIT: Read the article first, its like sony's strategy (use of cameras).

exactly what Nintendo said last year. They came out with the details on the controller later so "other copanies" will not copy off them....... and take their idea quickly.
