Episode 2 is set to feature as many different environments as Half-Life 2 itself, with a missile silo and mine shaft heading up the list of locales. In the story department, Alyx Vance and Dr. Freeman are still on their way to deliver the mysterious combine packet. Apparently the next episode will also flesh out the equally-mysterious Vortigaunts, and even more perplexingly the G Man.

In addition, theres a Mad Max-style ramming vehicle, used in Episode 2 to charge through armies of new 'Mini Striders', first seen in the teaser trailer. A brand new weapon is also promised, the 'Strider Buster'. It will be used to target the Strider's new "weak spot" to a devastating effect. New functionality is also promised for the gravity gun, and a new yet-to-be-announced multiplayer game is set to ship alongside Episode 2. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 is planned for release this Christmas.

well if its a pitiful 4 hour game like ep1 was, i wont spend another $20. when i pay $50 for a cutting edge engine and a 10-12 hour game, i cant justify $20 for a 4 hour mod.

Mm. So sorry. Have fun paying fifty dollars for complete crap like, say, Black. I'll enjoy my five hours of non-stop action for twenty dollars.

The gameplay was fun. The story was fun. The AI was fun. It looked nice. It all came together as a WONDERFUL package that was worth every penny.

im not saying that just because a game is $50 its worth it. the game was short, there was nothing really new. it was simply a 4 hour extention to the original game.

Which personally I thought was just fine for 20 bucks.

I'll just wait for the sales again... I only paid 8 bucks for Episode 1 at Circuit City

That being said, I still wouldn't have been disappointed paying $20 for it. It still would have been worth it.

Cool, just finished Ep1 and liked the teaser for Ep2. Looks like the Vortigaunts might be a little more helpful and those mini striders look real interesting.

You know, this just got me thinking.

The episode thing hit me, why the hell don't they make HL a movie? The storyline has the potential to be godworthy, there is a great userbase behind the game, and if done right could set movies based on games on the right track again. This should have been the movie, not Halo (wow, I can't wait to see how the story unfolds on that one). O_o

But anyways, I'm a big HL fan, but haven't gotton to purchasing EP1 yet, hopefully I'll get it purchased soon.

Just a side note though, but Valve could have the right idea here. Tweaking a little, what if they had us pay 70 one time for a series of games (like a tv series), then instead of one huge game, would give up a small episode game every once and a while. I'd love that. :p

Uwe Boll is thinking the same thing right now!

I'd even watch a HL2 movie made like RedvsBlue.
The good thing about EP1 was that it's gameplay , in a way, is closer to HL1, i'm talking about the puzzles.

I love the HL universe, and seeing as to how HL2 ended and after getting attached to the characters (specifically Alyx ), it drove me crazy wondering what happened to them after the explosion. I think the $20 (or $ was worth that answer alone. Keep in mind, these are episodes. I don't think every single episode has to be as epic as HL2 itself. Why blow their wad in the first episode? The main focus of E1 was for them to escape City 17, so it's not very surprising to me that there are reused textures, similar-looking areas and the like. Now, as for E2... It should get real interesting at this point.

Oh please let it be Team Fortress 2, I played non-stop of the first one until Counter Strike came out. HL2 was awesome, EP1 fit like a glove and well done. But I think its time for a new multiplayer king to come out. Come on Valve you can do it!
